I've bought alcohol at WallyWorld. No problem.
I've bought pharmaceuticals there. No problem.
I've bought feminine hygiene products there. No problem.
But, when I bought a can of spray paint, I had to produce an ID.
WTF?

 

I'm a non-smoker, and don't need condoms anymore.

Was in Maine visiting the 'rents. Went to a gunshop with the BIL, and they wouldn't let me handle a firearm because I wasn't a resident of Maine.

Had one on me. Maine is a constitutional carry state.

State law. One can hardly fault a business for following the law . . . . Businesses don't do these things because they want to make sales more difficult or expensive or upset their customers. Having said that, there is no doubt that how such requirements are executed by employees vary widely, and can often be better handled. And, there are very good reasons I have never worked in "customer service."

Wegmans has a policy of ID for everyone who buys beer. I’ve gone in with my kids and have never had an issue. Granted, they are both under 10 but that’s besides the point. The policy is there to take the decision out of the cashier’s hands and places the onus on corporate. A young kid can’t always determine who looks over 30 and who doesn’t. And the cops that run these stings in Onondaga and Oswego county use these pawns that are 18 and legit look like they’re 30+. You wanna be a 19yr old kid who gets arrested and fined because you made a judgment call on what 21 years old looks like? In NY it’s no joke.

The receipt thing bugs me more, but I got bigger fish and all that... y’all to re-fucking-lax.

Next time you fly someplace you need to show the TSA guys how you won't just do any damn thing they tell you to do.
