Yeah, that Miata is tail happy and true to life, I've spun a Miata a time or two on an autocross track and on the street... I saw you got your D-license because I did too. I ran a safe race with zero incidents and got 2nd place and it rocketed up my isafety rating by 0.6 to a D-license. I've been comparing our times at Charlotte and we seem to be similar in pace so if I ever see you on, I'll try to join your session. I haven't touched it in a few days due to some other time conflicts, but I'll get back to it soon...

I’m talking to him to see what I can work out. Ironically he started doing motorcycle track days last year with N2, so we talked bikes more than anything.

I think that the tail happy thing can be driven around- I have been watching the fast videos carefully and trying a few things in testing- You can let off the brake a little earlier on entry and turn the wheels in further (even though they are scrubbing) and the car will continue to turn in. Then you can get on the gas once the car is pointed and just unwind the steering A LITTLE bit- I was wondering how these guys can stomp the gas so hard and not spin or go wide- they just unload the steering just enough to stop the spin but it keeps the car on the turning trajectory.

That helped me a little at this new track in Japan or wherever it is.......

It's been 11 years since I last built a gaming PC, so I could use advice on a build to try out iRacing, possibly Battlefield 5, and think VR would be cool at some point:

    Motherboard: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813144154?Item=N82E16813144154

    CPU: https://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i5-9th-gen-core-i5-9400f/p/N82E16819117981?Item=N82E16819117981

Currently looking at about $650 (would like to keep it well below $800), before I add Windows and case. Can you provide a basic compatibility check (does the MB I picked work with the CPU?), in addition to recommendations for just better components?

If you want the most bang for the buck go with an AMD Ryzen system. Intel still holds a minor edge in some games, but we are talking 10 FPS. But the AMD platform is cheaper and with a WAY better upgrade path.

I would agree with the position above. If I were building a new system it would be an AMD based system.

So that setup I'm looking at has an Aiologs Sequential Shifter. I don't need it since wheel has paddle shifters and I'd prefer an H style shifter if I had one (I think). Is this a good shifter I should get with the setup or just pass and buy a different one later if I want one?

It's all going to depend on what cars you want to drive. I think the only road cars in the sim that has an H pattern is the Miata, KIA and Mustang? Even then, you don't need an H pattern to race them, the paddles shift just as well. Skippy and V8's use the sequential off the top of my head.

Wait...so you can’t use paddles, H, or sequential with any car?

Yes...you can use any of those with any car. It simply depends on if you find it acceptable to race an H pattern car with a sequential or paddle shifters. I find that the cars I need to heel/toe I do so more successfully witht he H pattern due to the timing of the movements. I can shift too fast with the paddles and upset the car.

Glad you are having a good time with it. It's a good source of competition even if it's not racing bikes in the real world.

We need to put something together for doing some special events in the future. Even if it's roundy round.

What a blast.Never knew I could have so much fun.
Damaged early, then in the dark it go hurt even worse. Then the engine blows. Long repair time.
Steering was skewed to the left by 15 degrees when I got in. Then coming up what I think is Adenauer Forst, the car snap spins and I bin it.
Now the steering is skewed to the right. Pays off to keep going.
Finished P11 out of 40 starters. 2 laps behind 10. 4 Laps ahead of 12th
    19X out of 28 laps. +1.9 SR a whopping +9 IR :)
