I didn't bother watching the response because they're all ridiculous. Let's not pretend Michelle Bachman or Ted Cruz tore it up on the rebuttal in the past either. NPR mentioned this morning that it goes back to the early 60's when it was first broadcast in primetime - because it would be "unfair" for one party to have that much airtime. It's disappointing to me that neither party can just let the State of the Union be what it is - the President addressing congress with his (some day her) vision for the coming year.
