Somebody from the TSA will probably get it at an airport when they're speed bagging an infected person's ball sack.

On the other hand; Just yesterday I saw an interview with a Dr. from the CDC being asked if a person could be infected by touching a desktop, for example, where an infected person put their sweaty hand. The Dr. said, "yes."

If an infected person does, in fact, sneeze or cough and you breath in those tiny droplets then you can be infected. An infected person simply breathing will not do it.

If I remember correctly, we were told by many in the medical profession that it was unlikely that we would have the virus get here. It has. As someone else suggested, our own Government will do whatever it takes to cover their own ass, and just as importantly, lie to keep a panic from starting.

I certainly think that the protections that are being instituted are not enough. This is not some virus that we can afford to "guess at." WHO needs to shut down any travel to and from Southern Africa until all the cases stop growing. After that magic 21 days then everything should be good to go. Times like this call for drastic measures.

And we need to close our borders and start actually screening immigrants like when Ellis Island was in use.

Yeah, stop travel to southern Africa. Forget about the countries where the virus is actually spreading. You know, like Liberia, Guinea or Sierra Leone. :D

The funny thing is that my entire family needed to go for a full physical including the communicable disease testing prior to getting our green cards but now they are letting people in from all sorts of 3rd world shitholes and not doing much, if any testing.

Sadly, this too has turned in to a big political game. I would really like it if both parties would try to consider what was important to the country long term rather than what was important to them for the next election.

Could be a good "OutBreak" will make the unwashed see just how much they "NEED" TheG'ment to Fix / Save them.

Worse thing that could happen is it thins out the un-needed overpopulated folks who don't have "connections" for healthcare to cure them.

What does your situation have to do with someone traveling to the US for leisure? You don't need a green card to visit family.

The first step for people to need the government is for the government to fuck up on a monumental level where the people have no choice but to get help from the government.

Oh cry me a river.....Listen, can we help it if you and your family weren't smart enough to walk/run/swim across the border? Serves you right. Maybe you didn't get the memo, the rules are only for the ones who choose to follow them. :Poke:

It was more a comment on how government is inept. Not a (D) or (R) government. Government in general. We lived in the US for 8 years before they did any testing at all so any diseases we brought with us from the Socialist Republic of Canardia would have been well dispersed by the time testing occurred. So they tested us basically after the fact but still tested us even though we came from a supposedly comparable health care system with similar disease prevention protocols. Now we have people coming from areas where ebola and other diseases are prevalent with little to no testing. I just do not think that tightening the border a bit until someone figures what is going on would be a bad thing.

Just so we're clear that you are advocating the expansion of government to sooth your fears. Although the government is the problem with our society. But this contradiction shouldn't stop us from taking immediate action. You are one mixed up liberal.

No, I believe that there are places where government needs to be. Immigration is one of those areas. Visitors from disease infested countries fall under that same umbrella in my world. But that is another great attempted deflection.
The other left leaners should be along at any time to agree with you. I do find it curious that when you have an opinion that seems to run contrary to your normal comments it is just that you are open minded but when I do I am "mixed up" though.

Because we all know that Americans can't catch it while abroad, right? :D

I would be OK with people visiting disease infested countries having to undergo additional testing upon return as well.
