People win without doing that though. Gagne, CB6, JD, GG, Gillim, etc. win and aren’t and never were that.

There is some reason a racer with his obvious talent has a hard time getting a ride.

Sorry are we talking Scholtz or Rocco here?

Herrin is the only one that I have seen drive Pridmore so insane with it that he was almost yelling at him while calling a race.

Bobby Fong went through a gesture phase too.

Twins might be wide open next year. Wouldn't be suprised to see Ale on a SS bike, Rocco returns again?, Gus was on a V2 at NJMP, Rossi back in Europe right now on a JR Moto 2 bike, also wouldn't be surprised to Avery on the Top Pro 750 and Ella in Twins on the TP 660. Chapin looked on the Suzuki at COTA.

I sure hope Rocco doesnt do twins again. NGSS at minimum I hope. Even on a SBK would be awesome. Also, like others have said. I would take an emotional off-the-cuff rider than a cookie-cutter saying the same monotone things.. I dont like the hand gestures but it happens even in MotoGP. Personality gets fans too. I guess it rubs some the wrong way also..

He's on one of the best funded teams in the paddock and learned the bagger very quickly, and he didnt have to pay for his ride like 90% of the paddock. Terry Vance obviously saw something in him.

If you take away Rocco’s rookie Jr Cup year where he was pre puberty and a foot shorter and 30-40lbs lighter than his competition, do people still talk about him as this great untapped, psuedo world champion in the waiting?

The kid is very good, but so are a bunch others. I think he needs to be on a good Supersport bike to judge him against his similiar aged peers.

As I said, for a Superbike, if you’re finishing 10-20” behind two good former MA Superbike riders, and the funded teams are getting resumes from not only them, but also former MGP and WSBK talent, why do you think a team would give the riders finishing 1/4 lap behind the nod? It’s pro racing, no one owes anyone anything.

Rocco raced supersport for 2 years. His 2nd year (2022) he finished 2nd in the championship to Herrin, had 12 podiums including 4 wins. Yes there are a lot of good riders in the paddock. Besides the SBK riders that took a demotion to supersport, (Scholtz, PJ, Cory A), I think he has the most potentioal to succceed on a 1000cc bike.

IDK, the kid just goes out and wins on whatever he gets on. Watching him on lap 1 at Cota and lap 1 at NJMP (baggers) just decide to go around everybody for the lead was shit that you just dont see. Kid is so hungry and talented. If it was my money yes I would have old-man fast rider (28+yrold) and Rocco as the future that may even surprise. He seems like he is getting better and better (he's fricken 19!). I just dont see another up-and-comer on his level. Lots of talent in the paddock at his age but he is just a notch higher IMO.

I remember, but I also remember Herrin mostly having his way with Rocco, and I’d argue those were probably the least competitive Supersport years depth wise in the last 5 years or so. 2019 and this past being pretty deep fields.

I’m not saying that to diminish him, but those numbers need context.

It makes me a little sad that a bagger would be considered a good move. For old guys who have been there and done that, it makes sense. For young up and comers, not so much. I know, I'm showing my age and times have changed.

What exactly is your point? Haha. Do you just want to make sure everyone knows you DON'T think Rocco is great?

Might just be a reality. People involved with Honda were feeling pretty good about the future at Jersey

It has nothing to do with it. I think Rocco is super talented, but he’s been the “next big thing” on this site for 5 years now, and despite eventually figuring out every class and being in contention to win, he can’t barely keep a ride. Why? I don’t have the answer, but clearly a lot of teams pass on him. Is it Rocco, is the people around him? What is it?

Maybe he is better than some of the other young guns, but maybe not so much to be worth whatever baggage comes along with it.

Correct, and I understand that. But there's also plenty of great racers from the past that people on here love that would punch a guy in the face of they felt it was warranted.

They aren't celebrated any less. You can't love the past riders for their personality/spunk/edge/in your face win at all costs attitude, and in the same breath hold it against Rocco...ESPECIALLY when there are so many complaints about robot riders/no personality/packaged & cookie cutter answers in interviews. In my opinion anyway
