Inflation comes from introducing more money to the economy, not from it changing hands.

Nobody is talking about fundamentally changing ANYTHING. You cannot see the forest for the trees. OUR SYSTEM has slowly devolved from a free market into a government/corporate controlled faux economy propped up by debt and false promises. More and more of the wealth is concentrated at the very top of the range with the people at the bottom living on handouts and the people in the middle living on debt. At some point, it will no longer be able to support itself and it WILL FAIL. UBI is not socialism, it's a voluntary injection of existing capital back into the economy. It's not new money, it's what would naturally happen if there were no such thing as never-ending corporations that are "too big to fail". You see, for capitalism to work properly, there must be a cycle. A business must start, grow, shrink, die, and be replaced by new businesses. It cannot keep accumulating wealth perpetually. For anything to have value, there has to be a finite amount of it. Money means nothing (and there is where inflation comes from, not @Pittenger5 's elementary understanding above) if we just keep printing more (or loaning it out at near 0%).

You guys are exactly why things have been allowed to get the way they have and will continue until it falls apart. Complacency. As long as the trash gets picked up, the cable and internet works, and the line isn't too long at the Starbucks everything is cool. Frogs in a pot. All you do is rehash the bullshit you're fed. You don't take the time to research and then form your own conclusions. You don't think for yourselves. You don't act on anything.

There would be nothing voluntary about it.

People at the bottom are living on handouts because the government allows it. It's kind of like the "Do not feed the animals because they will become dependent" sign you see at parks. Here's the real problem. The government has created the dependent class, and that bell cannot be un-rung. You have a portion of people in this country who are a drain on the rest of society and they provide no benefit. UBI is not the solution to this problem.

I don't how much more clear I can make this. The welfare class is NOT what UBI is for. Those people are fucking leeches and cannot be saved because they don't want it. It is meant to undo the damage done to the middle class by the current rigged system which has been designed to drain the middle class of their wealth and give it to the upper class.

Yes there are. Starting a business isn't remotely hard either. Start small and grow. Lots of places out there to help you do so as well locally through nationally.

Agree on the bottom but the only issue the middle right now has is they feel they deserve to live like the top 10% and go into debt to do it. Idiots. No sympathy if they crash and burn. Live like you're poor for a while, get out of debt, then get the toys and bigger house and such.

The damage done to the middle class has been done by their own greed for stuff. Not by the government or the companies who are cashing in on their stupidity.

It's not an even playing field. Amazon was set to get $3.4 BILLION in tax incentives to move to NY. Name one small business that gets anything even remotely similar. By making it easier for big businesses to grow, we make it harder on small businesses to compete.

Yes, to an extent. But do we vilify Eve for taking a bite of the apple, or the snake for offering it?

Why in the world would it be remotely even? We could move WERA to NYC and we'd bring maybe one job to the area. They're bringing thousands, thousands of people paying taxes that weren't being paid before in income and sales and property. They'd bring billions more in tax income that they'd get in tax breaks. It's not different than us giving a rider a credit for bringing new riders into WERA. A small business doesn't need to compete with Amazon, they have to compete with other small businesses. The right idea, hard work, you can make it a big business and then you look at competing with other big businesses.

    WTF?

I vilify the morons who live paycheck to paycheck just to achieve some stupid ass goal of looking pretty or living in what they think is the right neighborhood but took them two mortgages to get. They're the ones who are killing the middle class. They're the ones making the rich richer due to stupidity. I would never fault those making money off that stupid.

If a big business is so successful, why do they need to have these incentives? I understand it's become a basic tenet of the marketplace (buy in bulk and save) but it's still bullshit and it's exactly why/how things like Walmart destroying nearly every small town business environment has happened.

You're literally saying that laws should not be applied equally to all people/entities. If a doctor, who saves lots of lives, commits crime, should he get away with it while the homeless guy, who's an asshole, commits the same crime and goes to jail?

They don't need them to survive. They are given them by local governments to have them move locally and not give all that other tax money to another area.

Odd about WalMart, they haven't destroyed local small businesses, they just had to adapt to a new marketplace. Oddly enough same as businesses have always had to do as their areas change. Same as WERA has had to do as the market for bikes on tracks has changed.

I have said nothing remotely about criminal law.

Why do you insist on government protection of the stupid people? Why not let them be real human beings and learn rather than stay in their cocoon of idiocy?

Even though they're effectively stealing via deceit? If the cronies in DC and Wall Street hadn't made sure they were protected from loss via "too big to fail", that second mortgage would have never been offered, the fake money would not have been dumped into the economy, and inflation would be significantly lower.

Stupid people are one thing. Misinformed and mis-directed people are another.

    You speak of research....

Why not research basic human nature instead of what causes inflation and what does not cause inflation. BTW, that inflationary question is way more complicated than your links suggest.

People are motivated at different levels by different things. The comfort that you have mentioned several times before does not work the way that you wish that it would with basic human reactions.

The place where I think that you've come completely unglued is the idea that conviscation is ever voluntary. I only pay my taxes because I weigh the advantages of continuing to toil for my "cut" versus going to prison. It has nothing to do with the grand idea of social support for my fellow Americans and illegal aliens.

Humans bring more value to other humans by way of pursuit of their own self interest. Rewarding people to merely exist is a road to nowhere. Comfort is a disincentive for people to work harder or endure the hardships of starting a business. It does, however, promote consumption, so good for Amazon.

Who is stealing via deceit in anything I said? The builders building the mcmansions? The second mortgage BS is done now which is good but I still don't blame the lenders for taking advantage of stupid people or stupid laws.

If I blame anyone second to the morons it'd be the politicians.

And none of what I'm talking about has remotely anything to do with too big to fail. No clue why you keep going there.

No. The "people" are willfully misinformed. They don't get a pass. I watched my mother do a double loan to buy a house she couldn't get in one loan. I told her she was stupid for doing it. She knew she couldn't afford it but it was her dream home. It was idiocy, willful idiocy. The ONLY person to blame in it was her.

Weird. I’m middle class yet, I don’t feel wronged or drained by anyone. I spend what I can afford. It’s not rocket surgery. Anyone who spends what they cannot afford should not be rewarded, which is basically what you are suggesting we do. Do you think the assclown who mortgaged himself broke is going to find Jesus and not be an idiot when he gets free money?

The same people who are spending every dime they have now on
junk they could do without would just take the UBI money and blow
that also and they would be in exactly the same spot.
