Which has zero to do with localized energy densities. Absolutely. However, that still leaves us with open systems and energy perturbations and entropy driving heat transfer. Can you point to a state of the universe where there would be no energy/heat transfer going on? This is fun. We might even be able to bring a termite mound into the discussion.
What's the deal around here? Another thread being jacked up by nerds. I came for the out-of-control emotion and confirmation bias, not to learn something .
You are of course correct that his analogy simply demonstrated that energy can be concentrated in a portion of a thermodynamic system, causing an equivalent loss of energy in the remainder of that system. My impression was that he was demonstrating his scepticism for anthropogenic climate change, and simply conflated matter and energy, which does not really change his point to any extent.
You've already got that covered, mate. May I suggest a return to the manosphere? I'm curious. If you are correct in inferring his "point" , how was that bolstered by his awesome knowledge of science first principles?
Absolutely. Barring Big Rips, Big Crunches, and the like, we are likely headed for the Big Chill. If that is our fate, entropy wins and no more energy transference is possible. Personally, in an effort to maintain a cheery disposition in the face of overwhelmingly gloomy odds, I am a proponent of the Big Bounce model. Of course, we will all be older than the Face of Bo by that point, and the passage of eons might well alter our perspective.
Excellent. Too bad biological systems wouldn't be part of the mix to verify. In the interim, entropy acts, but only seeks perfection.
He was responding to the idea that a temperature increase in a crowded room was anthropogenic global warming in a microcosm. He was simply stating, in a somewhat less eloquent fashion than you, that localized energy density is not proof of man made climate change. Unless my perception is off, the two of you are essentially in agreement here.
Wow. It's nice you can do his thinking for him, because it sure as hell made no damn sense to me. Maybe I'm just dense. Now, about that biological thermoregulation thingy...
Best part of reading this thread is determining how much my brain has atrophied since studying chem and physics lo these many decades ago...
If you possessed the necessary perspicacity, you would recognize an advanced pissing contest, in which the objective was to form a geometrically perfect arch, rather than the somewhat plebeian distance method.
I always find it very depressing to be reminded of the things I used to know. And I'm not talking about understanding them again in the now. I'm talking about just remembering having understood them once.
Eh, I used to be bothered by it, but now I find those deep dark recesses of gray matter better suited to remembering MotoGP schedules and the URL to my favorite porn vids.
