Holy Crap! Maybe I should start building these! http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268406
Ballistic Performance Components Announces New Ultra-Light Weight EVO 2 Lithium Ferrous Battery. North Charleston, SC – December, 2010 – Ballistic Performance Components is proud to announce the launch of the new EVO 2 Series of light weight lithium ferrous batteries for powersports applications. Your powersports vehicle is the pinnacle of modern technology. It is made with the latest lightweight, high-tech materials to be the most high performance vehicle on the road, lake, track or trail. You have modified your powersports vehicle with the best in carbon fiber, titanium, and magnesium in an effort to gain every last ounce of performance. Yet, under your seat is a heavy hunk of lead that was designed in the mid 1800’s. Ballistic Performance Component Batteries use the latest, state of the art lithium ferrous energy storage technology available to provide you with a smaller, lighter, higher energy battery. Each Ballistic Performance Component Battery is assembled by hand in the USA using computer designed custom proprietary cells, cases, and hardware. The MOTYdesign batteries have the same specs as the ballistic batteries for less money, they're actually lighter with the exception of the 8 cell.
I saw the Shorai's at the IMS show this past weekend and was really impressed with the weight and how they are made. Evidently they are designed to give a high burst of energy for starting. Unlike, A123 cells which are designed for constant use over a long time.
If you find Mavryk's thread and PM him he'll sell you the battery for $185. It was worth every single penny IMO.
Rob, I will have some with me at fontana, you can try it out. It does crank much better than a123 I had on my bike.
You need a specific charger. These should work: http://www.batteryspace.com/Smart-Charger-10-A-for-12.8V-LiFePO4-Battery-Pack-Worldwide-use-CE.aspx Make sure you get the correct voltage rating.
which shorai battery model would you go for on an 06 gsxr 1000. full system, filter, ecu, and other little things.. stock motor. thanks.
+1  Jim and his Maviryk Batterys rock!!! Jim is a GREAT guy to deal with, I can't say enough about his customer service. The price for his batterys can't be beat and dthey come with beefy AMP quick disconnect connectors. I have a full season on a 6-cell in a GSXR 750 superbike engine and it hasn't skipped a beat hot or cold.
LFX14. You can use smaller on race bike but that would be recommended size. I have LFX07 in my R1 for testing and cranks as good. I cranked and started bike about 40 times, one after another, and still has power to spin motor easy. However, we will use LFX09 in all our race bikes. Recommendation is based on stock one and street use since those are worst conditions.
Like I said, you can use any of them. It depends what you use bike for, if race bike you can use smaller if street bike and you running accessories you use bigger one. I think this post may answer your question better than I would http://www.twfracing.com/vbforums/showpost.php?p=8238&postcount=35
Those Shorais seem the business. I may have to get one of those. The fact that they look like a conventional battery (only much lighter) and have clearly stated you can use a Deltran Battery Tender shows they're thinking of the average consumers.
