And yet they forgot to make sure to get WSBK or MotoGp approval for the track?

Never would have happened, the paddock is all wrong. Laguna Seca is too small with too few garages and the paddock is GIANT compared to Barber. Even if they cut away all the ground to make the 3 level paddock a single level and put in a bunch of garages it wouldn't be enough.

They had plans made to expand the track for world sbk and there's room on the grounds to change the paddock to accommodate if needed.
but Indy car fits in with their setup so how sure are we that world sbk wouldn't fit?

I don’t know what Indycar does for cert, but this place is far, far away from any FIM certification …. I’m gonna say it’s not going to happen.

<edit>. My bad - I thought you were talking about this ozarks place…. but then realized you’re on to Barber. Sorry. Yea, I think Barber could do it if they wanted to - might need to make the track longer and runoff, and paddock…. but they could do it if they wanted.

Ozarks place is a waste of time……

Yep! He was talking about Barber which I agree they can pretty much do whatever they want if they want to.
And agree Ozarks is just dumb all around

Track is owned by the Armco king of Missouri. He has all of the guardrail contracts with their DOT.

Don't know how Indie is setup, but just look at how few garages Barber has and compare that to all the other garages we see on TV. WSBK *might* fit if Barber built more garages. GP, no way. If they say Laguna's pit / garages aren't enough, Barber doesn't stand a chance.

That actually makes sense then. Wonder if he started to sell to VIR on discount for knowledge transfer

From what I remember back when Barber opened what 18 years ago was that the track needed changes in length, run off, and of course pit box space to get either WSBK or MotoGP.

If all Laguna needed to do to get WSBK was to add the garages why didn't Barber do the same?

Maybe it's a money thing or maybe they (org & riders) don't want to go to Alabama?

Seems Barber has plenty going on between Indycar, MotoAmerica, Vintage fest, club racing, driving schools / track days and of course the Museum without having to spend a ton of cash just to host MotoGP or WSBK.

Not that I wouldn't like to see it happen since I'm within 4 hours from there...

With Laguna finally repaving the place will WSBK or even MotoGp consider coming back? One thing is for sure if either see a race date in July or August most of the racers, crew, and even Dorna would love to vacation in California before or after the event

WSBK probably will. Unless they've built more garages, GP isn't coming back.

    what?!?!

" many drivers overestimated either their tire performance or their driver capability, and went off as a result. After several consecutive wet events early on, with drivers hitting barriers following their own impatient errors, Ozarks received some unfair criticism that it was "unsafe". In many places on the lap, the barriers are close. Going off may likely result in contact and consequences. That's what happens at race tracks. Make a mistake, and the track may punish you."

Not a car guy, so I've never heard of Chin Track days, but you have to give them props for all of the auto-fellatio in their write-up

Hitting stuff is what happens on the street. That's why we go to the track instead. It's supposed to be safer.

Their following comment about the track being like a sharp knife is stupid.
I'm within a reasonable distance of this track so when it was first announced I was very interested. But then when pictures and video started showing up with all the armco my interest quickly went away.

That sounds much like Dominion Raceway here in Virginia. That was originally it was supposed to be for bikes as well and the track day organizations got all excited and even got a few instructor laps early on. As far as bikes go, I think an org did a street skills course there, but no track days and definitely no racing.
