MCRA coaches went out on motorcycles to "assess" the track. Last I checked, that group was still running Gateway infield too so take their judgement with a grain of salt.
Gateway changed their layout for the drifter crowd last year. And basically told MCRA to pound sand. I don't think MCRA is ever going back there. And MCRA was not positive on their review of the Ozark track. They didn't say they will never go there, but "lot's of changes would have to take place".
I'm glad they're not running Gateway anymore. But that does tell you just how bad Ozarks is (worse than Gateway).
Wow, they actually say that having guardrail to hit makes it more of a drivers track...that's a little fucked up.
I would love to strap whoever made that statement into a passenger seat and test that theory at speed. It's easy to make those statements from a nice desk I suppose? A tree can stop you too pretty fast so I've seen
There's a whole breed of ding dongs who lament everything that makes racing/tracks safer. They're the extreme version of green paint vs actual grass discussion, taken to the stupid end of the spectrum.
Not Ozarks, and well the track this billionaire was at is a private track that is actually pretty terrible. Look at the YouTube for on board, pretty terrible track. he could have made a better track himself. https://chicago.suntimes.com/obitua...e-aspen-motorsports-park-woody-creek-colorado
The dead guy was 70 and his father was making a statement! How old is the billionaire father? Maybe money can buy immortality.
That place is sketchy as hell - I deliver Lambos there for a snow driving event every winter. I’ve been out on it a couple times and the walls are scary close . For being such a rich guy playground I’m surprised they haven’t expanded or made improvements. Then again, Aspen is like diet nyc , can’t cough without asking for permission.
On a similar note, there's a brand new private rich dude track here in DFW area, G2 Motorsports Park. I signed up for the first MC trackday before there was YouTube available. It was *very* sketchy. The organizer put up as much air fence as they could and it's not enough. There's a part where you're heading into 120 degree corner after a straight, 3rd or 4th gear sweeper, and straight with armco about 30 - 50' off the track. It's an interior corner too, meaning there's racetrack on the otherside of the armco so no opportunity to expand or add runoff. It's just armco all the way around. A brake failure there could be fatal. It's not as bad as somewhere like Gateway or Ozarks but it sure as shit ain't MC friendly either.
I'll be damned...raced Woody Creek in 1982 in the Aspen 6 Hour on a Suzuki 1000 and that damn track hasn't changed one iota for the road course. Thanks for the track view.
Wow I had no idea it’s been around that long …it’s narrow as hell! That race would be a workout at that elevation. I get winded climbing into the truck up there
There is another new track in Missouri about an hour south of KC. It’s a private track for some rich dude and his buddies but it’s LEGIT. I drive by it a few times a year going to dirt bike races and every time he’s out even more infrastructure up. Apparently a ton of people and groups have tried to rent it out but he’s not willing to. This is real FU haha!
Damn - that's my kind of billionaire - I grabbed this snip from Google maps of the backside of the buildings in the paddock:
This is what I would do if I was uber rich. Although I'd probably put more focus into resurrecting Reno Fernley Raceway out of nostalgia alone.
Motorcycle racing happening there I guess: https://www.roadracingworld.com/new...le-track-day-at-ozarks-international-raceway/
