I don’t recall this being asked yet, but here goes, will aftermarket parts be allowed? such as exhaust/air filter? I assume there’s not a lot available, but say if a team had a sponsorship from M4 or Yosh, or a larger team that runs multiple classes such as Hammer racing. This is just an example but if Ulrich fielded a kid, seeing as the team is sponsored by M4, would they be allowed to run an M4 provided they weren’t one off specials? or will it be damn near everything identical
Exhaust and air filter have to be kept spec. Letting these be open would defeat the purpose of a Talent Cup series. The only thing that's open is the suspension, but there are some very limiting rules in place on it. Mechanically, I don't think we will see a difference between any of the big brands here.
As a former racer dad, this is the right answer They can run a M4 sticker or patch on the leathers, I love the tighter rules and elimination of pocketbook racing. I will say when we ran the Honda RS125 and Moriwaki, we used stock tuned/rebuilt suspension, even though others were on Ohlins, etc. I was happy that I didn't have to blow all that extra money on suspension, and after a few years experience he could win with stock suspension. Fortunately, I was able to talk with other guys that said stock was good enough to win. However, I do remember the guys out there with $9k swingarms, Ohlins forks, brembo high end brakes, heavy cranks, A-kits, ignitions, det counters, etc. Second year I did get a built Ben Solis ported cylinder, because that's what it took to try and compete. I even bought an A-kit setup, for our 3rd year, because the winning guys were running them. One of our competitors bought the high $ bike with all that stuff and I was worried about them for sure. Luckily our main competitor wasn't running an A-kit, so I spoke with that dad and never put ours on. So I guess all that rambling is to say, I think it is great you guys are clamping down. IMO, unless the suspension has issues, it would be nice if they only allowed stock suspension with springs and valving by their tuner, but I understand what you are doing.
I"ve never wanted a kid, except during the 15 min I have been reading this thread. This class is going to be popular. Can't wait to watch.
LOL I didn’t really want them either. Always figured if the woman I married wanted one great, if not that’s fine too. I’m glad she did, it’s awesome. At least for me, kids end up being the greatest thing in my life. I enjoy watching how they have turned out and they surprisingly made me much less selfish and a better person. Just from what you post in here, you seem like you would have been a great dad.
Hoping the class lives up to my dreams for those racers in the class. Having a kid doesn't mean they would necessarily want to race. Neither of my two boys wanted to, and I probably couldn't have afforded the tires anyway.
HAHAHAHA! As I recall you were supposed to buy us a couple Ninja 400’s to go race together. Since you already bought the Kramer, just get another and we can still do it. I will give it back when we are done, so you aren’t losing anything with this kind gesture.
Cora.kitty took a few minutes to show off the new bike to me. It a a cool bit of kit and I'm looking forward to seeing the kids on them Speak of which, there are a bunch of people spending big money on the jr cup. I was surprised several times walking up to a serious looking pit and finding a couple ninja 400s.
You’re all talk so ya ain’t goin broke!! You got more than me already, even after giving half away, go on, you can do it!!!
We are open to a part time dad role. Where you can pay for any racing activities your heart desires.. I will even make sure Ian calls you dad when your around to make the role feel special.
I might be interested, so long as there are other husbandly activities in the deal… Like mowing the lawn.
I see you're already predicting no rain races next season...didn't even show up to get some wet practice this weekend...
Hey, 225 posts before this discussion was seriously derailed @cota.kitty. You did extremely well at deflecting our randomness, I must say!
