Not true. Have Macs for over 5 years now never had a virus. What ever Apple provides in the OS is more than enough.

for now. The talk in the network security circles is showing more and more malicious apps designed to directly at the Mac. Mostly maleware, trojan's and spyware from the web, but more is coming.

It's just easier on Windows based machines to take advantage of the poorly written code. MAC's are based on UNIX which has had 40+ years of refinement. Most of the security risks are directed at vulnerabilities in open ports and services, which is cross platform.

You can choke pretty much ANY computer with Illustrator and Photoshop. Don't ask me how I know. :D

Installed Windows 7 on Boot Camp today and finished tweaking settings tonight. Didin't want to but Softplan, my architectural software, just wasn't working right with Fusion or Parallels. Not as big of a hassle as I thought and its actually cool to just boot into whatever system I want.

Using Windows for Softplan and Mac for everything else. Maybe its my imagination, but I really do think I see what others have said. Windows really does seem to run faster on here. If not, at least I'm pleasantly ignorant.

My opinion of this machine goes up daily. Just the fit, the finish, everything seems so top notch. God I should have done this so long ago. Glad I finally did.

BTW, did I mention how much I'm really enjoying the backlit keyboard? Probably about a hundred times. I'm easily amused.

Im looking at getting the 15 inch, pro with the 2.8 processor, if i was looking at the PC competition for this system, ** not stats wise, speed wise** not the same between OS, what system that runs XP would i be looking at?

I'm thinking about throwing a ssd on the mac if i get one, that should make it all work :D

What, did I strike a nerve? Perhaps if the people in WA spent less time posting on forums and more time fixing their crappy code, we wouldn't be having this discussion :Poke: ;)

Should have my Macbook Pro today!! What a great thing to look forward to after being at the track all day!! See ya this evening!

Download the Windows 7 Beta before its done and get a disk prepped for it. Then, just use Boot Camp on the Mac. Set that up and it wall partition a portion of the drive for Windows. Then when you turn the computer on, you can choose to load Windows instead of Mac. I tried Parallels and Fusion but for my architecture program, really ended up working better in the Windows side of Boot Camp. Little bit of hassle but much better results.
BTW, Boot Camp is already on your machine, just turn it on and set it up.

mac virus' will jump in numbers the more popular they become, the main reason they are pc based is beacuse of the shear number of pc's out in the world vs mac's

I get great results from Macrumors forum. If you look at the topic counts and you can see the place is active. Their news pages on the other tabs are very good.

Really? 13.3" aluminum case, 2.53 Duo processor, 4gb ram, 250gb hard drive, Nvidia 9400M video card. Please show me where that $1499 is just horrendously more expensive than another laptop once its truly optioned out the same. And I do mean the SAME specs.
Oh, and please let me know which of these laptops will push 7 hours per charge not on the internet or viewing DVD's. And this really is pushing that kind of time on a charge with word processing, not net work.
