Yall have any ar barrels you like ? Criterion worth it? Looking for a 12.5 556/223 buckwylde or whatever it is these days. I’ve got a ballistic advantage that’s adequate but wanting to upgrade my 556 ar

Criterion is absolutely worth it. That’s what I have for my 18”. Sub-moa if I do my part (which is admittedly rare but I’m also an amateur) and consistent results at 800 yards using 77gr otm.

got my first suppressor today...Liberty Precision 5.56 Torch...made in my home town, Dickinson, ND. Ron and I certified the Form 4 Saturday, got the approval today and went after work to pick it up from Ron's shop. SO excited! cannot wait to put it on my AR15 and see how I like it.

You will probably want to tune the gas to get it to run perfect. Have an adjustable gas block?

I do. Thanks! Hadn’t considered that. Great point.

Good for you, I am currently replacing a couple AR's gas blocks to get them to cycle properly with a whisper pickle on. Every new build gets one although I don't see many more traditional AR builds in my future. Maybe a .308 due to the increasing cost of 7.62x39 vs 7.62x51

I’ve got a question on compensators. Recently while hunting for a red dot mount on the Tandemkross site I came across a blemished comp to screw on my Ruger Mark III. It seems really stupid but that’s never stopped me before, so for $30…why not!

The gun groups tight with the cap on the barrel but with the comp there is a definite shift to the right and a noticeable increase in the group. Is this normal or does this comp have more than a cosmetic blemish? No signs of the rounds striking the comp that I can see.

There is definitely drift when talking suppressed. I would guess that a comp could do the same thing.

My latest build is another 14.7, but more traditional-ish, with a clamshell hand guard and A2 fsb. Plan is to keep this one suppressed, so went with a JP adjustable A2 fsb. I was going to just get a standard A1/2 fsb, but when I saw the jp adjustable, even though it’s a clamp on, I just had to. I’ll do the pins on top later maybe……. It just arrived today and looks nice. Cool option for adjustability yet keeps it old skool…….which I prefer.

I like FN barrels. Have a couple and extremely happy with them. getting ready to assemble a new one probably this weekend. Criterion……..hard to get much better than that. If you can get one, then hell yes!!

Sons of Liberty is putting out some solid stuff lately. They just came out with a premium line of barrels and some of the old stuff is on sale if you can find it. If you shoot the barrel out they’ll replace it. Also if you use one of their guns in a self defense situation they give you a loaner until you get yours back, they’re pretty solid dudes.

Criterion is another good one IMHO. I've been on the hunt for a Centurion myself (just got one). As mentioned SOLGW has been making some good barrels and if durability is a factor that might be worth a look. Geissele is making CHF barrels now. BA is probably the best bang for the buck these days. There are some others that are more target oriented but usually they are 18+" (PRI douglas, JP, etc). Mos-Tek makes some good barrels, especially if you want something a bit different (twist rates, contour, etc). Noveske was doing a big sale yesterday, might see if they are still running it. Their Afghan and Diplomat were always highly regarded. I've got an LMT 16" (5.56/6.8spc), FN 10.5" CHF, Wilson combat 11/3" 6.8spc, FCD/SOA 13.9" collaboration, Centurion 14.5" 5.56 and a Mos-tek 7" 1:5 300bo. Haven't shot the FN much, not a fan of the 10.5 unless it's got a can on it. The FCD/SOA I bought second hand and evidently it's designed to run with a can, so still working on a combo that will work with and without a can or may open up the gas port a bit. The Mos-Tek 300 is stupid fun so far with subs, no interest in shooting supers thru it. Just got the Centurion recently and looking forward to putting some rounds downrange with it.

Thanks for the info! I'll take a look at all of those. My BA barrel is ok and when I've hunted, it's always done fine but I have other AR's and rifles that shoot a bit better and wouldn't mind bringing up my 556 to the same level.

No experience with them but have also heard good things about Rosco. That said, for precision I’ve been so pleased with criterion and they’re reasonably priced so no real reason to change unless I just found an absolute steal on something comparable. Only exception is I may eventually drop the coin on a Douglas for a mk12 clone but they’re pricy as all fuck as far as I’m aware, it’s just the cloner premium.

They cannot sell them yet in Maryland because they have to be added to some dumb/BS gun list in Maryland....But one of my local shops has the P365 Fuse in stock. They let me check it out. It's basically a P365 XXL for like $699. So, it's reasonable. I watched a youtube video ironically this morning on the Fuse before I headed to Anglers. OVF's review had a LOT of failures to feed the next round into the chamber.

So since I got to see one in person, I took a look...the OVF eval guys were talking about mag spring breaking in being the problem...and it may be. But I looked in the chamber and that feed ramp on the barrel seems steeper than any I've seen to date. Doesn't seem like there's enough slope (just gonna leave that alone right now)/angle so when the mag spring pushed the next round up that round butts up against the barrel and doesn't achieve the lift it needs to rise and slide into the firing chamber.

I'm not sure I'll get one of these, but if I do, it will be a while to see how things shake out on this edition to the P365 series. Because we all know Sig is going to release about 50 iterations of this pistol now.

Uhm…it’s an Sig…you never buy the first run. Not hating on them, I own a handful of them and carry a 365 XL when the PDP proves to be too cumbersome, but you gotta wait until they work the bugs out. I had one in my hand and was seriously contemplating buying because who doesn’t want 39 rounds in a relatively easy to conceal setup? The other thing I like is the overall length to get a little more ballast below my belt line. I figured they would have this thing dialed but there are enough videos of people having FTF issues that I’m going to hold out a few months.

I just saw one today where I guy was having FTF issues about every third round with plain old ball ammo. He sent it to Sig and had it back within a week but it still sucks to send your brand new gun back. Sig polished the breach face, stripper rail, and the chamber transition. Between the Sig test rounds and what he shot it’s got about 200 rounds without an issue now.

My son and I are at the 100 yard indoor range now. Shooting the 5.56 Savage Axxis II with the Liberty Precision Torch on it. This is freakin stupid!!!!

  20. F ing scammers and worse than drug dealing a holes Optics Planet are at it again. Having their Black Friday in July releasing sale shit twice a day again. Scope on kids hnr is a bit overkill so picked up another diamondback but a 3-9 40 for $133. Then this afternoon they had the 4-12 42 (I’m on with the plex retical ) for $180. Bought two of those. Then grabbed a pair of binoculars for a steal. I may grab another 3-9-40 as they still are available just to have around. Ok just grabbed a scope for one of my ar-10’s as well. Assholes.
