I have until tomorrow morning to come up with non-obvious, of-the-box names. Who could jump on a factory-spec R1 in 2024 and bring points at every round? Target is championship top 10. This isn't about your personal fantasy: it has to be someone who actually would want to. So obviously, I'm not taking any suggestions from @Dave K Anyone else can chime in.
Yes. Remember when I said "non-obvious?" He was the first person I thought about. But there are couple of reasons why I didn't go to him first. They tie into the "who would want to do it" part. Let's say it's a chance for someone to show why they deserve a ride in 2025 that pays better.
I would have said Sykes, broc Pearson (if Ducati hasn’t already resigned him), Josh Waters, Troy herfoss (might be staying with Honda). . . But since I’m excluded, f you frenchie!
Some M2 riders w/o a clear ride next year? Fenati? (I know, he's M3 but he muct getting close to being booted by age) Would love to see Pasini on that!
He sucked when he did it the year after Espargaro flushed him out of MotoGP. He had been thumbing his nose at it for a year or two until he was forced to go. Anyway, he's been doing MotoGP commentary and racing endurance, trying to win a 24-hour classic. It has become obsession with every new failure to do so.
No offense to the Australian championship, but right now they can't even hang with the level in Motoamerica. This is why I don't listen to you.
The requirement of being a sure top 10 is really gonna hurt your list. Even some of the regulars who already have rides for the foreseeable future don't meet that criteria.
Yeah, but pickings are sparse with your parameters. Able to score Top 10 consistently and available. Moto2 or WSS are your hunting ground I’d guess.
