He was 5th overall in WSS this year! I worked with him when he was on M4 as well a some private stuff in late 2019. I think the reason he was in the French championships as that's where he could get a ride at the time.

The mullet thing was a joke. Like I said, the reason I never seriously thought about him is that I was led to believe that he's making good money racing dirt. I figured if he wanted to race a superbike for cheap, he would already be doing that in America.

Emphasis was on "alone," not on "French championship." Ever heard that term "locker room cancer" in ball sports? That's the closest way I can describe the experience. Yes, he was 5th. He should have been fighting for 3rd. He has the talent. He's his own worst enemy.

That's too bad. I liked him when he was over here, even when he pissed of Ulrich calling the bike a POS! I've dealt with that cancer with an employee and it really kills moral in a company.

Yep, totally get it. There was a way I had to deal with him and was honestly, not pleasant, but it worked.

Agree on the talent and experience.

@dsapsis will have an issue with a small technical aspect of your statement, but exactly. We also have a crew to worry about. It's not all about the rider. Boss has gone back and forth about bringing him back in 2024 at least a dozen times this year. He has gotten a firm NO from me every time. And I was the one who begged for 3 more rounds when he wanted to dump him after his performance in the early-season overseas rounds. But no more.

BTW, if we are talking about a supported Yamaha R1, my answer is really Hayes, all day every day and twice on Sunday. I would put him at a consistent top ten every race he finishes, top 5 on good days and podium contention with some luck and attrition.

Not trying to be a buzzkill but Josh Hayes is 48? Maximum age for WSBK is 50.
Don’t know how absolute that is and I think he could fit papa’s parameters but
