No, that is NOT what I said. I said that big business shouldn't be able to manipulate the GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE to give themselves an advantage over their competitors - typically smaller businesses/people.

How would you feel if CMRA lobbied the government and managed to make it so all orgs had to use their approved rule book.

Um, that would be equality....

OK so a little I can agree on. Certainly the are some that should be busted on a monopoly basis (google and facebook come to mind...likely Amazon also). Wealth concentration as a topic is kind of funny as it tends to increase when Democrats are in power despite the campaign rhetoric, I guess some animals are more equal. You global warming and we have to cut industrial society as outlined in a meeting that the pig went to across the globe on his 100 ft yacht. And that kind of thinking.

As to Citizen United I was reading and article on how much Seth McFarlane contributed to the Dems. Then add in Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg and their $$$ How is that different. Oh and if you cut them all back to $2K total they still have a bigger access to the public forums than you do. CU was spot on free speech.

Smaller businesses cannot compete ($$$$ wise) with big business anyway, with or without government involvement. A smaller business can gain a portion of the market share, but never enough to really effect the bottom line of a big business. The simple buying power alone from vendors gives big business the advantage. Mom and pops Ace hardware has never put a Home Depot out of business.

The only way to effectively resolve any special treatment to anyone is term limits and no lobbying. Neither will ever happen.

Without a doubt. One of the articles posted on here somewhere mentioned the financial impact to Koch Foods that the shutdown would have. That only gets worse if they can’t get back to full operation right away. They’ll hire everyone they can get their hands on, at competitive wages, just to stop the bleeding.

I truly hope that works, across the board. I’m just not so sure people are going to flock to the fields to handpick vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc. I could be wrong, though.

I’m not sure on that one. I’d guess mechanization but I’m sure it’ll be more expensive and there are several things that may have to be done by hand.

Oh yeah. The harvesting I’ve seen in central CA still requires a lot of handwork.

Easy fix. Stop welfare payments for able bodied people and implement a work or starve program. Those who are worth a shit will work. Those who refuse to work add nothing to society and will not be missed...

^^Eleventy million percent agree. If you want welfare, you have to work for that check. Even if it's just picking up trash along the highway or pulling weeds in the city park or sweeping gutters, Don't perform to at least a minimum level/don't show up, you don't get paid.

There are plenty paying jobs going unfilled... once people realize they're not going to get paid for sitting on the couch watching cartoons & smoking weed all day, they'll go get a real job & welfare will become the social safety net it was intended to be. Those who refuse to play along can go ahead & starve. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

We should also bring back chain gangs and prison work farms.

I'm leery of for-profit prisons. Some of the stories surrounding that industry make the warden of Shawshank look like a piker.

I don't know what the right answer is, but I don't think that locking people up to provide a workforce for a publicly traded corporation is moral.

Maybe we should just up the standards for the death penalty... three strikes and you're dead. :D

I'm a pretty die-hard capitalist, but I admit I have issues with our prison system being for profit. It's the same as having your police force be for profit. Just my useless opinion.

But not letting those people do that for profit is socialism! You can’t steal another persons labor for your benefit:crackup:It’s almost like you think there are some things that just shouldn’t be about money..... or at least that it’s clear that money will taint the quality of work.

Find some way to incentivize social workers fit getting people OFF of programs instead of for getting them on. Give them 10% of what the person would have received if they hadn’t got a new job.

difference being that police powers and the judicial system are legitimate functions of government.
