We hear you Michelle - We regret it and we are deeply sorry.

 

"But unbeknownst to us, we grew up in the period -- as I write -- called 'white flight.' That as families like ours, upstanding families like ours ... As we moved in, white folks moved out because they were afraid of what our families represented," Obama said.

"And I always stop there when I talk about this out in the world because, you know, I want to remind white folks that y'all were running from us -- this family with all the values that you've read about. You were running from us. And you're still running, because we're no different than the immigrant families that are moving in ... the families that are coming from other places to try to do better."

Maybe Michelle should notice that when she moved to the white
neighborhood, she was running away from the black neighborhood.
Just like the other families with the wherewithal to leave.

Or consider that perhaps the white people who moved away were
not, in fact, moving away from her but instead they were moving toward
a more upscale neighborhood just like her family did and continues to do.

Maybe, just maybe, those white folks were motivated by the same
things Michelle and family were motivated by. Maybe all white people
aren't actually as evil as Michelle thinks they are and maybe the USA
isn't the hell on earth that Michelle thinks it is.

 

But at least finally, for the first time, she can be proud of her country!

 

No. No, it is. That’s why she should remove herself and her family from it and find some utopian dreamland that better fits her ideals.

Every instance of white flight I have ever seen was driven by K-12 education issues, either achievement or funding, or both.

Over a decade ago, Little Rock fractured via poor management/leadership, persistent minority low achievement, theft, graft, and rapid population growth. The people with the means (which means white people) moved further out. They opened new districts and let the fed take control of LRSD, which is a disaster to this day.

My wife says the older I get the more miserable I get. I tell her my tolerance for bullshit is just going down.

 

My wife likes to use the movie, "Grumphy Old Men" to remember her G'father and her stepfather. Then, she reminds me I'm becoming them. I'm ok with that. Her stepfather and G'father were R and D, both about the same age, and would argue politics all the time. Yet, after T'giving dinner, would watch football and enjoy each other's company. Something sorely missing from today's politics.
