whos coming? A buddy and I will be there. Never been to a pro race at barber. But the map showed tram stops. Do they run a tram for MA? Trying to figure out if it’s worth bringing the bicycles, primarily for tower/paddock access since you can’t park anywhere near the paddock. Is the tower still open like it is for club events?
I'll be there by lunch Friday. Anybody gonna be camping out? They have run a tram the past 2 years. How much butthurt do yall think me buzzing around on my cr250 would cause?
We had them at road atlanta earlier this year and it was useful. We did drive to most spots but it was very useful to have the bikes for the paddock as much as we’d go watch some racing, come back to either Parrish’s or draiks pit, go watch more racing, come back, all weekend.
We will be camping as well. Buddy just bought tickets. But seems like I remember camping being really high for wera, like $75. But he said it was only $30 for next weekend. Am I crazy or is there some truth to this?
It'll get impounded if you don't have a tag on it - and if ti's loud they may run the tag... The road around the track is a public road and you have to follow all the laws as such.
I think you're including power in your $75 for our event. But it could be cheaper since the tickets are way higher to start.
$30 for tent camping is what i payed. Has enough room to park a truck too so its a deal. Ill probably only camp on Friday night. wife is coming down Saturday. Her and camping dont mix. we will be at the Hampton Saturday night.
If it has a plate on it I'm not sure there is one, if no plate then you cannot ride it, no your local laws regarding under 50cc and such do not matter. Barber is not a normal track, the track is in a city park essentially so they do things a bit differently.
Get a scooter. Get a tag. If you want in the paddock with a scooter, you have to have a pass/sticker. A tagged scooter is the way to go.... I have the sticker so we can drive it in to the paddock. Tram always run. It drops you off at any stop you wish. It is a big circle around the track. Don't bring a dirt bike.... You will be escorted away. This is a country club with a race track in the center. I will be there doing the "Minis at MotoAmerica" kids demo riding. Essentially the little ones that race either in WERA or tracks like Herrins on minis will ride in a controlled area. Also be there checking in on our younger Jr Cup riders.
Bicycles would be nice for after hours and around the campground but dont expect them to let you go riding around the paddock on them.
A few years ago, before I had a plate on the scooter, I was pulled over on perimeter road by a Jefferson Cty Sheriff. Didn't get a ticket.... and it was sorta funny. But as Mongo mentioned, it is technically a public road, and Alabama expects plates/insurance on scoots.... Also got pulled over on the way to the Mellow Mushroom in Oxford.... again for no plate. I have plate on it now..... Hey - if you're coming to Barber, bring a motorcycle and stick around for Monday!!! t
No bicycles allowed in MotoAmerica Paddocks at all... I will be there Thurs Afternoon until Monday PM... where I don’t know yet but I will be there Level 1 2 or 3...Look for the Nicky Hayden 69flag..
