That's what the track says but it's not settled. Motoamerica has approved pre-event testing by premier class riders to ensure the track surface is safe for racing, we'll see how that goes, and I hope it goes well.
if it’s just that spot it’s not even close to the line… If it’s coming up everywhere they’ll just change their lines, it sucks but we only use a tiny bit of the track. No way they cancel Laguna in Wayne’s back yard. IMO the test is to keep from having tires or track chunk in the first sessions from not knowing which compounds are needed to avoid issues and bad press.
Repave before the 2006 race (that was the one where temps were well over 100F) -- track was coming apart at the exit of the corkscrew and some other spots.
Gagne, Scholtz, Herrin, Paasch, Escalante, Gabriel DaSilva are the only riders invited to test. Test administered by Dunlop. "In order to confirm the track surface after delayed completion of track paving due to extraordinary weather conditions and cancellation of a car event"
Thanks, Laguna is always one of my favorite weekends. It's an extraordinary effort getting out there, but It's always been a bucket list event and one I've done surprisingly well at. Love the weather, the track, and just visiting California in general. Worried about the chatter problem rearing it's head with the new pavement, but we're armed with some solutions and ready to rip!
The Bulletin didn't mention anything about that. They had to do a meeting of the "permanent bureau" to allow this as it was outside the current rules. They explained what the permanent bureau was at the Barber rider's meeting, but everyone's eyes glassed over in unison. Something about the rules and how they are appealed / enforced.
Well, Jane, it just goes to show ya. It’s always somethin’. If it ain't one thing, it's another. You either got a toenail in your hamburger or toilet paper clinging to your shoe. Either they won't fix the track or they fuck it up after they do.
track appears ok. see RRW writeup https://www.roadracingworld.com/new...near-race-pace-during-testing-at-laguna-seca/
