on 2t ! Is this another Moriwaki, or however it is spelled ? http://www.motorcycleshows.com/media/honda-nsf250r-coming-us an associate from WERA vintage is purchasing one of those, but he does have a barnfull of sweet 2 strokes , I'm certain ! I was just lamenting the continuing demise of the 2t GP bikes, when I read this ... just wait until we get direct injection ! And get the AMA straightened out on classes/displacement structure !
Compared with prices of TZ and RS 125's For comparison; NEW 2009 production year 2003 spec Yamaha TZ125. . . . BIKE w/setup kit: $13,500 approx NEW 2009 production year 2004 spec Honda RS125 . . BIKE w/spares kit: $12,500.00 approx MSRP for the NSF250R has been established at $28,599. How about some power comparison's; Anybody have those figures?
Yes, the problem is relative value. We all know 2Ts aren't coming back. Lamentable, be we're understand. Having to pay double for worse performance is what annoys, however. If something is demonstrably superior, well I guess we have to pay up. When it's definitely way slower than a 2T 250 for about the same cost, and probably slower than a 2T 125 for more than double I'm not surprised people are pissed.
Are those bikes competitive in the current 125 GP World Championship? Pretty sure they're all Aprilias even with other names. Maybe a KTM but not positive on that. So comparing the RS125 and TZ125 isn't exactly the same. Also pretty sure a competitive Ape is going to be 6 figures, not 30k.
Why would anyone be pissed off that a major manufacturer is offering current year competitive MotoGP machinery for sale in the US? Are you guys truly not getting that these are not 10 year old RS and TZ's? This isn't a beginner kids bike. It's not really even a club racing bike. That is what the Moriwaki is for.
Pricey, no doubt, but no one ever said racing was cheap. It only gets more expensive the higher up the ladder you go. Will Moto3 fulfill its promise as a ladder step towards MotoGP? Unless you are a Moto2, Moto3, AMA Superbike or WSB champion you probably won't be invited to MotoGP. This bike is pricey compared to a used AMA Superbike but building and developing a new AMA Supersport or Superbike is still probably more expensive.
you're not getting it. that bike is NOT meant to be competitive on a moto3 grid at that price. it IS the direct replacement for an RS125 gp bike, meant for kids racing in national competition, and as the BASIS for what you might find on a moto3 grid. and the price is fucking lunacy. easy on the kool aid. vince
really? enlighten us..... imo, it's a razor thin line between that thing and a mori. it has an RS125 gearbox and a yamaha dirtbike engine layout. OOOOO and Nikasil plated cylinders!!! vince
and since i'm not goin to type it all out again, i think my position is clear enough from this: http://www.usgpru.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10145 vince
i guess we'll see if they're worth the price come next year when some brave soul buys one and brings it out for the Moto3 USGPRU races.
Yes really...but I am not going to waste my time trying to convince you Vince. You are a Honda and 4T hater anyway so why worry about it. You go and pay $27K (according the RSC) for a brand new TZ250 if you can find one. There is so much misinformation and speculation about the new bike in the other thread, I am not going to waste my time getting into it. You really should try and inform yourself a little better before you start "spewing"!
Oh hell, I didn't know you've tested, worked on and ridden one of the new Moto3 machines. Why have you written it up and sold your story to the magazines? You've got to have the scoop on everyone.
sorry i'm a waste of your time. no, i am not a honda fan. no, i am not a 4T fan. but, i would think you would know me well enough by now to know that i am a huge enthusiast of GP bikes. and the NSR250, as obscene as the price may be imo, is a GP bike. sure wish you would help me understand. your silence just reinforces my current opinion. vince
