Pink Floyd: Meddle. As good as Dark side but not as overplayed.

    Has Boston been mentioned?

How about the best one liners from an a song: Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) said "despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage". From "Bullet with Butterfly Wings".

Gawd, I HATE that line. so over played and over used. I want to junk punch anyone who even mentions it.

Problem with Megdeth is Dave Mustaine's "singing." Their stuff seemed forced.

Honorable mention to The Cranberries, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? The lyrics of Dolores O'Riordan are amazing.

I think the musicianship more than made up for that. Take out the all the vocals and it would still be a hell of a ride.

Ive been a die-hard loyalist to the street urchin stuff for so long I can't find my way out.............:D Although the past few years I got into some of the newer "progressive/alternative" bands that my oldest daughter is into, but they don't get much radio time anymore or their new songs suck trendy balls now.

Hope you managed to find a replacement copy of Pastorale - they are available individually from the same master recordings.
Beethoven's 6th is one of my favorite classical pieces.

Reading this thread I'm trying to think of my "best" or "greatest" list. But there are too many great recordings to even narrow it down.

Bill Withers Live at Carniege Hall
    Issac Hays Shaft
    Curtis Mayfield Superfly
Harry Chapin Sniper and other Love Songs
Simon and Garfunkel Sounds of Silence
    The Doors
    ELP
    Al Green
    Jackson Browne

And then there is jazz - George Benson, Winton and Brandford Marsalis, Coltrane,
    & Blues Muddy Waters, ...

I think I'm going to fire up the turntable.

The re-release with a bunch of new material is ok. I needed to replace my worn out original copy. Ever heard 9012 Live? Superb stuff.
