    Sorry to post some facts for the OP, but here goes. "DOT" tires are more than just slicks with grooves cut in them. Getting a DOT certification for your tire means the tire has manufacturer coding, plant it was manufactured in, # of plies in sidewall/tread, date coding, load ratings, etc. all on the tire. FMVSS 120 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) requires manufacturers install DOT tires on new street motorcycles.
