Bostrom on a Honda at Laguna?

No you wouldn't. Suzuki wouldn't have any of that. If anything is "irrelevant" besides that AMA thread, it's the eslick/herrin/hayes/hayden/solis/whoever arguments for the LCR seat. Ben is a good fit for a one off, pr stunt gp ride at Laguna, specially since he is apparently ELIGIBLE for said ride.

ya people gotta realize, it's not the best rider who gets the seat, it's also gotta be who can bring more press to the team etc. and peeps gotta remember that on a rented Yamaha last year, Ben would battle up front with the Makita boys and Hayes a lot. I dont think he gels with the Gixxer, and im not a fan of his, but he is a good rider

Man, I wish WP was over here. As much as I like Ohlins. I dropped a second everywhere switching to a WP shock

  6. He's stoked on the chance per Cycle News and said "I will race hard, to win, but I can see 5th place, certainly top 10." He knows the track well, raced hard with the 1000s and Hayes and heck, didn't he win in Superbike at Laguna in 2004 ?
Props to American Suzuki for letting him ride the Honda in MotoGP and then his Jordan Suzuki in AMA Superbike....and he has a 2 page full spread ad in Cycle News for Jordan and the Laguna race this week. Big call for Suzuki to allow this!

Dude get real. Mladin was one of the best ever to throw a leg over a street bike. He had nothing to prove and Ben's results only bring validity to the argument.

I suppose you would gladly take an 80% or more cut in pay to go work at a place with a better reputation.

If I already had a ton of retirement money, but loved what I did; yes I would.

I was thinking Disalvo too, after his results in Moto 2 last year at Indy I would think he would do pretty well... better than BBoz.

I'm sorry but most of the riders you poosticks keep tossing out are just not all that marketable to Joe Streetsquid. Disalvo is a great dude but, come on, other than miracle grow what's he going to sell to the Cougars in the crowd?

Bostrom? He could sell viagra to a nun with that smile, looks and his goofiness.

The name of the game is marketing and sales. Rizoma has gotten their $$$ worth already.

If you wanna talk marketing to street squids, they should have had jason britten do it.

Why is everybody hatin on BBOZ? I mean DAMN, I don't think any of you guys that have posted on here yet can get better results & I can just about guarantee he won't pull a Miguel & pull in after a couple laps because his uterus is hurting. He's still one of the fastest guys on the grid & will do the team more good than most of the young guns out there. Maybe the team isn't just looking for results, you ever think they might be looking for setup suggestions? Just my .02

I bet Honda has an electronic stupid control on the bike to prevent the stuntahs from doing much on the bike. Can't do a pogo pump with an underground hammer if the wheelie control keeps kicking in.

I'm glad to see Ben get the ride....If it wasnt positive, he wouldnt have gotten it.

I must agree with H8R tho.....JD would have been a TRUE wildcard....probably inconcievable....but that kid can ride!.....and the guy who rides the 5 bike, yeah... :) ...that was some of the most excellent racing at Mid - O.

I've always enjoyed watching Danny too, great guy....so many possibilities, but just one bike.

Bottom line, I'm glad Ben got it, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with it.

And Eric Hunter....the clapping of hands was a perfect comment....bravo sir.

I always heard that phrase as "wish in one hand, shit in the other - see which one gets filled first". Eh.

Still would have rather seen Eslick/Hayes/Herrin/Blake get that wildcard, but certainly understand them going with BBoz. Nothing against BBoz, just would have liked to see how one of those dudes would have done.

Yeah, me too...but clap them together and see what ya get?....thats pretty damn good. :)

I'd have liked to seen any of those guys you mentioned as well.....but I really believe their time is coming. Ben is truely a "sieze the moment".....and that means anything can happen....and I like that.

Also, I thought Rodger did a great job last year, and was surprised he wasnt asked back in one form or another.

I'd prefer that Martin Cardenas get the opportunity to do this, but realize he ain't gonna drive the marketing the sponsors would want.

Let me be perfectly clear...Mladin was not only a good rider, but had the team that worked well in the pits that helped him accomplish those championships.

There is no way that Mladin would throw a leg over a bike that he is totally ill prepared for or had a crew that could support him. This for BBoz is a circus side show and a half ass'd effort for the sake of showmanship. Granted...lets hope the best for BBoz. In reality...he hasnt done crap in the AMA with the current crop of neutered Superbikes , he certainly couldnt come within 30 seconds of Spies on a full factory Ducati in the old AMA and in this case....will only finish inside the top ten because of track knowledge.

Dont get me wrong....I would love to see him win. But in reality...I could only wish.
