It's Chicago, kind of a duh there. Although I truly don't get the attorney filing paperwork with a pic of the old house, how stupid is he?
The Cook, Will, Dupage, Sangamon, and St Clair County(s) Democratic machine “elected” him. The rest of us are stuck with the POS.
Actually pretty smart. Took 9 years to catch him, and the county can only charge him three years of back taxes. He still saves $120K even with the taxes and interest he will have to pay.
Look...your job as a citizen is no different than your job as a racer. They write the rulebook. Your job is to interpret the rule book and find every where you can to exploit it to your advantage. The tax code is no different and the lessons to be learned are the same. Write an over complicated rulebook and you leave room for people to find the problems with it. Keep it simple and it is become harder to exploit the weaknesses.
Every racer I have ever known who had this attitude was one who couldn't actually win with riding skills. But I 100% agree with you. Its up to me to get the most out of my citizenship. Its not up to me to over fund the thieving government.
Every racer that is winning and his crew chief, if he has one, works from that position even if they can simply win on skill.
I dont disagree at all. Nothing is more satisfying that seeing those guys get beaten by straight talent. Only happens at the club level though.
Sadly, the only crime really is getting caught. I learned this in the 1980's in NYC, but keep hoping it isn't so.
I see it as the difference between tax evasion and tax aversion. I'm not going to avoid paying taxes but I should be looking for every method of reducing it to its absolute minimum. I am not trying to not pay taxes. I am just trying to limit the amount in any way legally possible.
You mean you dont like sending $650K to UC Santa Cruz to digitize Grateful Dead tickets and tshirts? You have something against spending $250K to find out what makes macaques horny? Why do you hate America?
