Well, I will reply to my own reply. Just got a response from the RE. It wasn't a "well Mr. Padgitt, if that is the way you feel, then as of today Richard is no longer track manager at Roebling Road" but at least we are being heard. Change takes time. Scott
Just wonder.... what would said manager would do if, when he got in front to speak at the riders meeting, all the riders booed him. Not trying to stir up trouble, but I just wonder. Hmmmmm....
That would NOT be helpful... You think he's a jerk now? Piss him off and he could decide that none of the race gas pumps are working, and start kicking people outta the track because their pits aren't dress-right-dress...
I've got some buddies who race SCCA. I doubt they can be too fond of the guy, although he may not show his ass so much at their events. I'm willing to bet SCCA racers will take our side if they know how we've been treated. Let's try to put the pressure on from all sides until they throw the bum out.
I got a response to mine. There is a certain degree of crap in the response from the RE. Like he is justifying Richard's actions in that it is his responsibility to make the clean up of vehicles from the track go as smooth as possible and THAT means making sure that fences aren't messed up in the process. Regardless of what he says, there is a certain amount of cooth that needs to be exercised in moments like those. One can protect the property without being an asshole. Believe it or not, he did say that there have been minimal complaints from other organizations about this cat. On the other hand, in all fairness, The RE was concerned about P-star.
As an SCCA racer I can tell you none of us like him either but he is not as bad at scca events as he is mc races.
I have received both a phone call and email response to my letter. First off I would like to thank Ted Migchelbrink for responding to my complaint. Something like this could easily be brushed under the carpet so any response is better than none. Here is his response. I cut and pasted it from my email and it is unedited: Jeff, I tried to call you the other day, but didn't hook up. I am concerned when I receive complaints from our guests. Be assured that we, the Buccaneer Board , do review these complaints and will implement actions to resolve issues we deem reasonable. Let me start by saying that all of us at Roebling are saddened anytime any racer is injured. We have staff at the track and contingency plans with area hospitals to respond to emergencies when they arise. In this incident the rider was being attended by both ambulances and was awaiting airlift to the hospital. Richard's wife was with the EMTs should they need anything from the track to assist the rider. There was nothing Richard could do to further assist that situation. His next priority is to see that vehicle is removed from the scene with no further damage to it or track property. At that point the emotions of the fellow racers were in turmoil with the seriousness of the accident. Richard was doing his job. The only question in my mind is how was the that communication handled? We have 40 to 50 different renters every year and have very few complaints from other groups, so removing the track manager is not an option. We do value your group as a good customer and are constantly working to improve our renters visits to Roebling Road. I believe we have got an on going conflict here. I will be attending your August event at Roebling and I will be happy to sit down with you one on one to try to work through this. I'll look forward to meeting you. Best regards, Ted Migchelbrink Region Executive Buccaneer Region
RR 6-14,15 & 16 We attened this last weekend's event at RR and I must say that it was a very enjoyable time. Not one time was there any problems, that I know of, with the track or its personel. All the folks at CCS and RR were great. We had a geat time and look forward to getting back there.
See, this is what pisses me off! Richard did NOT help make the cleanup go smoothly. His quote was "Why bother its just garbage anyway". We only had one way out of the woods so he threatened us rather than helped us to make it work. And the guy didn't give a shit about an injured rider because that would have taken compassion which certainly had no place in his power trip. I was very upset by what happened to Pornstar and it made me ignore the track Nazi and get to the task at hand. Now I get pissed off whenever I think about it. Somebody post the address I need to send a letter to.
