    And I thought this was gonna be a question about it being okay to wear an offensive shirt or sandals around the paddock.

    Get some decent gloves. PM rider's discount or email STG and ask what they can they hook you up with and how fast they can get it to you. I would avoid rental gloves. Gloves offer less and less protection with crashes and sweat.
