The Suzuki GSX-R series has had several reported issues, including brake defects, relay regulator failures, and headlight failures. Some older models have also been known for transmission issues and fork seal leaks.
    Specific issues mentioned:
    • Brake Defects:
A recall covered GSX-R models from 2004-2013 due to a defect in the brake design. Penney & Associates notes that Suzuki was ordered to pay penalties for these defects.
    • Relay Regulator Failures:
K7 and K8 models are known for relay regulators failing due to overheating, especially in urban riding conditions, YouTube said.
    • Headlight Failures:
A recall for 2018 GSX250R models was issued due to potential high- and low-beam headlight failures.
    • Transmission Issues:
Some older models, particularly K6 and K7, have been reported to have finicky transmissions, though this is not a widespread issue, Reddit says.
    • Fork Seal Leaks:
Leaking fork seals have been reported on some models, potentially affecting braking performance, Avvo said.
    • Other Issues:
Some users have reported issues with wiring corrosion, and the GSX-R600 has been criticized for its potentially uncomfortable riding position due to the fairing interfering with the rider's knees.

Your not trying to say an MV is as reliable as a Suzuki are you.
I mean Suzuki sells like a million bikes to one MV

I've replaced fork seals on about every brand out there, that's kind of a reach.

Fork seals are a maintenance item.

I'm not at all. I said if you search for problems, you see problems. I posted the Suzuki info as an easy 3-second search example.

To copy and paste some random search results and pass it off as absolute fact is silly... as it also was in reference to MVs in general. It's like saying you're not going to buy a new Ducati V2S because Ducatis need constant valve service. If a brand has an issue at some point, that doesn't mean it has those same issues indefinitely. Early MV 800 triples certainly had engine issues. I always recommend if anyone is in the market for a used MV 800cc triple, just make sure you're buying a black engine-case model year (around 2017 they switched from grey cases). The black case engines have some of the prior issues addressed and have greatly improved reliability. Those issues have been addressed and we very rarely see general reliability issues when it comes to the bike running and operating as it should. That's reliability. Parts availability is definitely hit or miss as you would expect from any smaller brand. Over the past 3 years they've sold something like 8000 bikes. The reality is over-producing spare parts for every model when you sell such low volume is a waste and you'd never sell all those parts. Therefore, some parts are super easy to get and others take more time. Oil changes and regular maintenance is not an issue with MVs. If you have a limited edition Superveloce Alpine that had 110 produced in total, getting replacement bodywork is going to be a hail-mary at best.

I say all this because the thread was specifically started about buying a new bike, not a used / older model year bike. New MVs (like new Ducatis, etc) have improved on their reliability immensely in the past 10-15 years.

Funny. The base is all I need for what I’m planning on doing. Parts availability in the aftermarket is plentiful and the bike fits just right (actually similar to my S1k). That’s the route. Plenty of them at dealerships all around me too. Price searching is the fun part now.

Offered in 2019 I think on both displacements available everywhere (not as a limited edition). It’s called Intense Sky Blue. I know a tech that used to work at another shop in SoCal has one and rides it regularly.

Umm... That's the point. If you don't sit by the window in Starbucks just to look at your bike in the parking lot, you need to reevaluate your life choices.

I don't go there for the coffee, but rather to expound upon the virtues of desmodromic valve trains to the unwashed masses.

What bike are you talking about?? The zx10?? I’ve been wanting a new R1 for a while now or very slightly used and a 24 40th anniversary zx10 popped up in my area with 600 miles, the guy is like 60 and says he’s just to old for it. That thing reminds me of my old ZX7s and makes me want it but I’m not sure how it compares to the R1.
I’ve not ridden anything new and am still on a 04/06 R1 and would like more low end grunt for sure. No idea which would be better for me.
