Time for a new 1000, but which one?

I’m in the market for a new 1k and I’m going Japanese (already have S1k and RSV4), but not sure which one I want to build into a new track only bike. I’ve been reading and looking at different boards to gather known flaws for each, but I figured I would check in here too.
Any of these easier to build than others? Known failures or major component issues? Parts availability? It will be a 2025 only (or a leftover 2024). I’m not racing, but coaching and trackday stuff regularly.
    Thanks for all feedback.

For me, sound plays one of the most important parts to riding. With that, I’d lean really hard toward an R1.

44 Teeth YouTube channel did a street-to-track series, where they used GYTR and Crescent Yamaha parts, hit the track with each set of modifications, then, created episodes. Also, Freddy at Superbike Unlimited has done quite a bit with the platform and is a solid resource. You might reach out to him and see what used bikes could be available.

Hey we're talking reliable, easy to work on, and plenty fast for a trackday bike.

On a 23' BMW now myself. If I were going to do it again (Or this motor goes bang like my 2016 did) I would (will) get an r1. Plenty of them out there, spares readily available, the aftermarket support is big, can build up reliably strong with good power and handling.

I was a Hond'er man for days and I do like the CBR1krrrrrrrrrr but its $$$ where as the R1 is reasonable IMHO.

I got a chance to look closely at the new Hondas when they were at Pitt a week ago. They are purty. Hayden and JD could make them fly too.

    Some base line questions:

    1. what is your budget?
    2. do you want something mainstream or are you open to nichey kitchy?
    3. would you consider a streetfigher / hooligan 1000 sportbike or not?

For me, my considerations would be:

If we're talkin mainstream brands, on the high end is the: Honda CBR1000 RR-R SP RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. On the low end, and more hooligan style, is the Hornet CB1000 SP. Why two Hondas? Well the Fireblade just sounds rad. Has a ton of tech and is more capable stock than I will ever need it to be. As for the Hornet, it is getting rave reviews, and with some spring rate updates, pads, and maybe stickier tires will likely be hilariously fun and with the detuned Fireblade engine will be enough to keep you on pace with your students if they're on a 1000cc. The other benefit would be that for both of these you push the button and go. Maybe an oil change here and there, but otherwise push the button and go. At my stage, that's more important to me than fiddling. I want to show up and ride. Other considerations would be a 2022+ Panigale V4 (non-S), Kramer 890-RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR, Kawi ZX10RR, etc.

By the way, I've spoken with both Ten Kate and Crescent and they will sell and ship you a fully built bike to the US. You will need to find a credible and trust worth broker... I think Crescent has a couple they worked with. When I did the math, buying a built bike from crescent, with shipping, and import duties was just a bit cheaper than building one here. This was back in early 2024. Just food for thought.

Martin Lewis Can we go back to the track already?

Don't expect to keep up with the liter bikes on an 890, I don't care how many R's you throw at it.

Yeah. I get that. I was just throwing that in there as a niche option if he's looking outside the box... since he has a RSV4 and a S1000RR already.

I have considered this over and over but no autoblipper was a decision maker. I could buy one for 1k I suppose.

Mainstream only. I’m going to keep it simple, no need for R1m, CBR1000rrrrr or ZX10rr. I’ll build the bike and enjoy doing it myself for the most part. Oh, and I’m not filthy rich! A lot of R1’s in my neck of the woods.

Gotcha. So are you looking for used? Also, how many more Rs would it take to get you on this bike today? :p

Open to hooligan style? If so, Hornet CB1000 SP is an economical choice as a new bike and checks a lot of boxes... brembo brakes, up/down QS, Ohlins rear shock, etc... $10,999

Maybe I should buy a Hornet?

Why does almost no one race those things? On paper it should be a huge number of the 1K grid I'd think especially the "stock" classes.

If I had Zuckerburg money those green bikes would be top of my list to form a team around.
