There was a lot of strategy in this race, but in the end as you said, it was a great drive those last laps on those tires with Max coming for him.
I felt dirty rooting for Hammy. That was a great race though, we need more F1 like that! I love it when it rains
Guys got more wins than anybody and still works the crowd and tears up. He's definitely still got the passion. This is close to the kind of parity that makes racing fun. A few seconds either way on strategy or weather and any one of 6 could potentially have won. Feel really bad for George.
Well, I mean it's made racing more interesting to watch and there's a lot more passing now so... I'm thinking they're probably keeping it.
I overheard Indy yesterday saying they introduced 1 or 2 more (push2pass) options this weekend, something bout extra battery burst or some shit..
DRS falls under the "manufactured racing" banner = the guy behind has a "man-made" advantage that the guy in front does not have Push to pass is just another tool for the driver to manage - as long as all of the drivers have it all of the time. I am curious about their definition of "active aerodynamics"
The problem with the p2p is that it is only for the driver that is within one second of another, just like DRS is today. Cars will be smaller, lighter and less downforce too. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/...d-featuring-more-agile.75qJiYOHXgeJqsVQtDr2UB
Agreed, if that is how F1 is doing this it becomes another version of the DRS - only available to the guy behind. Indycar uses a limited amount of time "on the button" for all drivers to use as they see fit, either attacking or defending, this is just another tool for the driver to manage.
Yesterday's Mid Ohio race was the first race they used a hybrid engine during a race. I think they have finally worked the bugs out.
Without some kind of p2p there would be a lot less racing going on the way these cars are so sensitive to turbulent air.
But as stated above, at least in IndyCar it is available at all times, you just have a specific number of second worth. So the leading driver can use it to defend against a charging driver. Makes another tool for the driver, and adds to racing excitement. The way the F1 rules are written for '26, that goes away. It might as well just be another automatic thing just like DRS that happens when you are within a second. So F1 drivers are still just race managers rather than having tools to use and race with.
Performance clause about to kick in... https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/...h-f1-contract-clause-set-to-kick-in/10632968/ Not sure he can score 38 points more than Max in 2 races without DNFs.
Funny that Hamilton wins for the first time in years on the same weekend the F1 movie trailer hits that he is producing............. You would think this is NASCAR and Dale Jr wins for the first time in ages driving a mock up of his Dad's car........
