OK memory is foggy.... I forget the circumstances, but she was gifted a win before Tony George took over. Something like that.
Motegi ended up as a fuel economy run, yes she basically lucked into it. I don't know if there was any "gifting" involved. That one was in "Indycar" not CART - CART had their "ceremonial" final race the next day at Long Beach. Or something like that. Tony George split the series in 1996 I think, that went on for 12 years or so, CART went through a bankruptcy, Tony had the high bid at the bankruptcy auction but was denied by the presiding judge, 2008 rolls around and CART gives up and rejoins the only thing that keeps open wheel racing going in the USA, that is the INDY 500. Eventually the George family sells everything to Roger Penske, so once again, Roger wins.
IMO best looking car of all time! In 1999, CART had 5 chassis, 4 engine makers, 2 tire suppliers.. All sorts of options up and down the field. It was the better series, but the INDY 500 won out. Would love to have the more traditional open wheel road course series back. For reference, a 1999 McLaren added below. I think the CART cars were better
He only has to keep his word for 8 days. Surely an attainable goal if Perez can refrain from doing Perez things tomorrow. Oh, wait...
Norris in Ocon-level dick mode today. And Max. Finally getting called out for the whiny child that he's always been. And his fans call Hamilton a whiner with a straight face.
It was Piastri's race to lose until Mclaren undercut him and put Norris in front. They wanted to protect themselves from a possible return from Hamilton. Their idea was to swap positions back when things were safe. Then Lando developped a hearing impediment.
Villeneuve just made a really good point in the post-race: if Norris had complied right away, he could have tried to get the position back with plenty of time left. He was faster, and the team had told them on the radio earlier that they could race, but they needed to keep it clean.
