Why hasn’t Uber stock taken off?

I bought 500 shares 3-4 years ago thinking it would be a big thing. I wanted to get in while it was relatively low.

People will always need rides to places, there will always be people drinking, etc. Now they expanded into Uber Eats and Uber Freight.

It was putting Taxis out of business and seemed like a sure thing.

But it’s down like $17/share from when I bought it.

Is it because of the drama and lawsuits from people wanting minimum wage and insurance and shit because they are saying they actually work for Uber and Uber should be required to abide by labor laws?

 

It's because it was overvalued when you brought it. There was a lot of hype and everybody wanted in. The company had not made a profit yet and was trading at a crazy valuation. I think it's a solid stock in the long run but not at any price. I'm just around point right now, or maybe up a few percent, and even if it goes down some next year, that's one stock I'm holding for the long run.
