My lineup is getting a little stale. I'm into bands like Mastodon, Baroness, the Sword, Lamb of God, Gojira, Tool, etc

Another vote for High on Fire - f*&^ing awesome. They are - IMHO - the epitome of pure metal. No pretense, just killer riffs and great musicianship.

No... but I take it to mean he is into experimental/progressive rock. lots of metal fits into that category

Trivium's new album kicks ass. Much more mature metal than where they started.

 

Animals as Leaders (was mentioned) and Conquering Dystopya is some of the newer stuff I've been listening to, some Peryphery too.

On a more vintage/ classic headbanger note- Death with Symbolic (I remember buying the cd in 95 when I was 13)

On a best of prog note- anything Symphony X from 96 to 2000

Judas Priest with Painkiller for some good old kick ass metal.

Anything 90's and early 2000's Rammstein for a change of pace.

I like thrash, sludge, doom, blah blah, all the metal variants.

I wouldn't call Red Fang or Baroness "metal" either but I get tired of all the sub-genre shit.
