N2 starting their own race series, including sprints. I'm happy for them, but splitting an already small pie was rough on Florida racing. https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/n2-track-days-launches-new-racing-organization/
Press release doesn't mention sprints. I'd think with what they charge for trackdays weekends with 1 day of racing and 2 TD's would be pretty lucrative. I'm not thrilled with it- would rather give WERA my $$ but also prefer endurance over sprints by a longshot.
That's a positive thing for N2 and hopefully they produce a great product! Sprint racing will continue to be great for WERA and hopefully they continue on with what they have been successful at for end less years to come.
This is going to interesting. Racers have asked for change. ASRA finally got it with a new regime. Other orgs have been reluctant to step into modern times. I'm impressed N2 took the leap. I'm excited to see what they have to offer.
I like N2 and do a lot of trackdays with them. I basically only do trackdays with N2. But I'm worried they are going to convert some of their trackday weekends into endurance races. I liked the WERA/N2 combo weekends because I could do the N2 trackday, watch the endurance race, and then do sprints with WERA all on one weekend.
To each his own... I've enjoyed the new ASRA/CCS. Every weekend I have got every lap I paid for and I didn't have to stand in two different lines for an hour just to register and tech. As well, they still pay cash money for placing in the ASRA races.
If you're able to (seriously) and remove all emotional attachment to the old CCS, what is better about how CCS was ran vs ASRA?
1 transponder per person. More coherent race day schedule. There is online registration, but we usually sign up at the track anyways. Still the same on track crew as before which were good in our region.
How many bikes do you race? How much do you spend on racing per season? I don't know many racers that race more than 2 unique bikes (not a B bike). Is the cost of another transponder that much of a make or break scenario?
At least 2 every weekend, most times we bring 3. Makes no difference what we spend on racing. It's a pointless cost and the "qualifying" is wrong anyways.
Is it a cost if you sell the transponders for what you paid for them whenever you get out of racing? I bought my AMB from WERA in 2013 for $350. Sure, adjusting for inflation, I'm still losing a little money, but I could sell it today for $4-450. The cost of a transponder is not the same as a cost of tires. One is used for a very short amount of time, the other, assuming your bike doesn't get yard sale'd and end up in a ball of blames, you'll get your money back on. I disagree and see your "pointless cost" as a moot argument. How is the qualifying wrong? Qualifying should be based upon registration time? That would put you at the back of the grid - you said you sign up at the track anyways.
Maybe I'm missing something...I've raced more than one bike during a weekend and simply move the transponder from one bike to another. Why would I need more than one? I'm not racing two different bikes on the track at the same time.
I get no value out of buying more transponders for the new owners requirement. I get value out of new tires. The qualifying is not accurate. They used middleweight qualifying time for LW races multiple times. Qualifying for club racing is stupid. The grids are so small most weekends it makes no difference where you start. Even if they are bigger it still usually makes no difference.
