Yep. They have built a number here in southeast Michigan, and all I know, is it takes longer to get through the intersection than it did before. But so many people think they are better, because NEW. They would possibly be better, if the lights were timed such that you didn't hit reds every other light. And on top of that, they re-did the entrance ramp at my local I-75 interchange that includes this double diamond. Made a sharp corner where there used to be a large radius corner where you could get up to speed. Now you have to slow down, wait for traffic to go in front of you at this corner, and then accelerate and hope the people in front of you get up to expressway speed before the on ramp. Very efficient and good for your gas mileage. NOT. And if it is icy, you can slide into the ditch at this sharp corner. I swear this shit is done just to create road rage.
Here’s another example of Maryland stupid…….Route 210/Indianhead Highway, leaving DC and heading the stretch towards the Beretta factory. The posted speed limit is 55mph. They have multiple cameras with radar and a led sign that tells you the speed you’re traveling. If you hit even 50mph, the red led starts flashing “SLOW DOWN!!”. Naturally there’s no shortage of mask wearers in their car by themselves, that slam on the brakes regardless of already doing well under the limit. Every damn day, it’s a backed up mess that entire stretch.
I don’t follow close, nor do I sit in the left lane, but I’ll go around your ass if you’re sitting in a right turn lane and not moving TF outta muh waaaay!!! And also …
It’s still there and operating. But I don’t know what’s done there nowadays. There are multiple signs on the main building now, like tikka and others……..I’ll check in the afternoon what else is there. Might be just a distribution center now. A lady in my agency, her dad worked there for years when at full operation before MD pissed beretta off enough to move. She may know more……I’ll try to ask.
I remember sending an O/U up there for service. The II barrel wouldn't fire occasionally and it became an issue trying to shoot doubles. It ended up needing the firing pin adjusted and all was right. Anywho, I waited and waited and didn't hear anything for quite sometime, as in months, and I had a shoot coming up that I wanted the gun for. And this is prehistoric times back in the 90's before the Internet and email were what they've become. I'm pretty sure I dialed 0 and had the operator connect me to Accokeek! I went through the directory and left message after message for whomever. About 2 hours later the VP of Beretta USA calls me! We ended up having a nice conversation about shooting and hunting, and I had had my gun back in about a week.
I used to live in Accokeek MD. The guys @ Clinton Cycles, just down the Rd from Beretta on 210 helped me get into racing.
That’s where I bought my Thruxton back in 2005. Decent place back then. Changed ownership or management and became a chop shop. oh yeah, Accokeek Sports is where I got my first 303 smle when I was a teenager
And 85 IIRC. Someone I know got popped. He had a very high security clearance. It caused a lot of drama for him.
210 has been a drag strip for motorcycles for over two decades. Maryland needed to address the issue, and it didn't happen until some prominent kids were killed on 210 while standing in the middle of the highway in pitch-black conditions during illegal drag races. Two men driving a Crown Victoria with their lights off tore through at about 120 mph and killed 8 people. The direct response is what you speak about. Maryland implemented the speed cameras and flashing signage to try to curb dangerous behavior and prevent further tragedies. It's frustrating, but it's a direct result of the need for better control after years of insanely reckless driving.
I remember a few of those big accidents. I’m just not convinced having warning lights flashing as if you’re in legit trouble and causing panic reactions which then lead to rear endings daily, when the drivers that cause this aren’t even near the actual speed limit. I get it. Some tragic shit happened. But now everyone else has a shit commute and insurance claims through there, damn near daily.
Couple years back they made 10 over a felony. Of course, 'officer discretion' and all....and the line between felony and misdemeanor has been blurred.
That’s impressive! I only got up to 140-145 in the Viper, before mama started hitting me in the arm to slow down, and the vette I was racing blew a bunch of smoke out of his motor.
You guys....I feel like were hanging out at Burger King 1988 on a Saturday night bragging about how my 600 Katana can run 175 in fif gear
