With the current holiday, grilling and the thread: Joey Chestnut.....BITCHES! what it the preferred dog? I know some on here follow food/cooking networks, after watching an episode discussing dogs, the boss (aka wife) and I bought the typical variety (Nathans, Hebrew National, Oscar Meyer, Ball Park) and cooked all for a taste test of which we preferred. My preference was Nathan's, hers was Hebrew National. What does the all knowing beeb say?
Ball Park all beef no preservative taste best to me, other than the local butcher brand around here. Nathans ain't too shabby either.
I read a taste off the other day and some obscure brand won top dog but Hebrew and Nathan's were 2nd and 3rd.
I hadn’t had a hot dog in decades and an ex bought some Hebrew National to which I couldn’t remember the name when I asked her to get them again… they became affectionately known as Jew Dogs at our house
if you've ever been to Colombia, you'll never want an american style hot dog again. the doughy cheese they put under the dog, then potato sticks....
I got some of those costco 1/4lb ones a few months ago... same ones they sell at their food court. My buddies 3&4 year old liked them. The is a whole hot dog connoissuer world depending if you like them roller style, traditional bbq, deep fried, etc.
Out of a cart in nyc and the nasty water with mustard and that onion relish with a coke, easily one of my top ten meals.
Hebrew, then Nathans..then the rest of the possum peckers, and racoon tits all taste the same.. Just drive to the varsity in atlanta, dawsonville, athens ga.,and buy a giant sack of chilli dogs with onions, and mustard.Best Hotdogs on the planet, and after eating step out into traffic to suicide yourself. So delicious, then instant food regret .. Man I miss eating at the varsity!
Both The Varsity and store bought hot dogs are vastly over rated. There are really good regional or local made hot dogs that are way better than the national brands. Find a small town butcher shop that makes their own with natural casings. We had some great local made venison dogs yesterday.
Anyone that has a 100 yr old plus German or Polish community around them can find excellent hot dogs and more importantly sausage in the local area. Large national brands need not apply
Just saw the movie of a fat guy with a Mohawk throwing up on stage at Nathan's hotdog eating contest. That was top level internet.
