This is a still shot of someone's dashcam video showing the asshat getting out of his car. 50 yards over the driver's left shoulder is the Chico's that my wife was stepping out of when the first rounds were fired. People thought it was fireworks, a car backfiring, anything but a gun. I'm so thankful that my bride knows what a gun sounds like.
Now that we know she’s OK, can you walk me through the thought process where you get through an active shooter situation and go, hey, let’s go grocery shopping?
Said it before, treat it like terrorist attack. Whole nother set of laws. Never happen but I wish it would.
My wife's quite possibly the most Texan, pragmatic person you will ever meet. She needed some red enchilada sauce, and Aldi has it cheaper than Kroger. When she said she wanted to stop there I was like, "Wut???" Damn I love that woman. Long version: After the multitudinous horde of law enforcement officers that descended upon the outlet mall got to the store in which she sheltered and 'cleared' it, they walked her across the parking lot, out of sight of the bloodstains, and to a staging area completely surrounded by fire trucks and police vehicles. There, they announced that anyone who was in contact with someone who could come get them could walk north along Chelsea Road towards Hwy121 to rendezvous with their ride to keep traffic out of the hot zone. Heart icon is the store she holed up in. Red circle is the evacuation staging area. I picked her up at the place mark just north of there. It was surreal seeing all the people walking like some post-apocalyptic scene. Which,... I guess it kinda was. Her car is still there, the cops are still investigating the scene. She flies out to Vegas for business Sunday evening. It's a Southwest flight... She did her 24 hour pre-flight check-in while holed up in an active shooter situation. Then about 10 last night a lightning strike hit our transformer on the supply pole. It's 3:05 and I'm posting this sitting in my truck charging my phone watching the flashing lights of the TNMP trucks as they make repairs. Messed up day.
Never ate there. We live ~30 minutes drive northeast of there. We're more home cooking than dining out, too. The more I look at this, the closer to home it hits. My wife was walking out of Chico's when the shooting started right in front of H&M. She was planning on going to Wetzel's to get a pretzel and a Starbucks right next to the pretzel place. Shooter got dreaded right by the front door of Fatburger. When the cops escorted her out of Chico's, the windows of the stores all around there were shot out. Wife's 4runner is parked behind Fatburger where the green flag marker is. She'll be flying out today, cops just said the crime scene will be sealed until late this afternoon. I'm going to have to coordinate with a family friend on getting it out of there.
Insane story Auminer. Glad it turned out well for you and your wife. Obviously others weren't so fortunate.
This. An armed populace are citizens; a disarmed populace are subjects. Hasn’t changed since the beginning of civilization. Glad your wife is ok @auminer
