Got into a mood again. Been jamming ZZ all morning. Just caught a live performance from 1980, it is fucking nuts to think that was nearly 45 fucking years ago!
Odd mix of Tenpole Tudor, David Allan Coe, The Real McKenzies and Waylon Jennings……..it served well for the shitty weather commute home
I had forgotten about them for awhile and the kid showed me the Nike commercial from the 90s they used their song in. Hooked again almost instantly. They, Hagfish and sugar ray complemented each other and I was rocking out like the 90s were in full swing again. Only crime is the two brothers from hagfish with bill Stevenson on drums and punches you in the face. L7 because of Finch’s vocals.
Taught my nine year old granddaughter visiting from Houston how to play a basic beat on the drums (in two days) and listening to a recording of our uptempo version of Stormy Monday with me on the old LP. Sounds surprisingly good.
70's and 80's Honky Tonk. Thinking back to the good old days riding around in the backseat of the car. The steel guitar twanging through the speakers. Dad with a Winston in his left hand, mom with a Salem Light in her right. The driver and passenger windows cracked about 1/8" each. Bloodshot, burning eyes and a two pack a day habit by the time I was 7, whether I wanted it, or not. But I sure do love me some Waylon Jennings!
Winston for dad and Kools for mom. A Chevy Bellaire. Old Crow for dad, Bali Hai and Valium for mom. HTF did we survive.
Because I hate every last one of you fuckers with every fiber of my being, from my demented brain to yours, enjoy you sick bastards!
