Cow shit makes great fertilizer. Learn to live in harmony with the non-grass that grows along with the grass, and if anything annoys you to the point where you must do something, go pull it out, it's good exercise. No need to poison the earth and fill the water table with chemicals, nobody cares what your lawn looks like except other lawn aficionados.
It burns grass. Usually, a reasonable local gauge of when to put down pre-emergent weed control down is when the forsythia pop.
I didn't get anything on my yard in time. Poa Annua and dollar weed are growing in my zoysia. I've used Atrazine on dollar weed before and have heard it can work on the Poa, but would love some technical feedback. I'm in Atlanta and the zoysia is greening up as I'm sure that makes a difference in treatment options.
Go to your local Site One store for advice. They know everything. I know nothing of warm-season grasses and what they’ll tolerate.
I live in nc and have cool fescue grass. Bermuda is trying to make a run for it in my yard unfortunately. Anyone know what I can do for it without killing the good grass by chance?
besides kill it and til it, it is very hard to get rid of poa. if you have patches you can spot treat, if it is intertwined with the full lawn, you might as well go full bluegrass, as that is what it is anyway. Ski
I hope everyone’s yards are bangin’. Everything should be in full-song, by now. Stopped by my local Site One. The Lebanon 19-0-6 has been updated and now has Dimension and LockUp in it. Confront is no more. But, the best thing is it’s still in their system. I asked why it is difficult to get in some states. He said some states’ EPA regulations have been tightened, the last few years. With certain products, each dealer has to register with the state, verifying their qualifications to sell said products. He said he and the location manager were just discussing this product, today. I relayed my knowledge of its attributes and advantages over multi-step application programs. He said they were looking at bringing it in, depending on IL’s requirements. I ended up buying a gallon of Momentum 4-Score to get on top of my rental house’s yard. It’s a post-emergent which has a residual that should give some lasting effectiveness.
Just bought this to deal with mine. Guy a mile up the road is a dealer, would have bought from him anyway but he beat TSC by 200 bucks. Used it tonight the first time, likey so far. Wanted some suspension for my old , broken up body. https://www.cubcadet.com/en_US/zero-turn-mowers/zt1-54p/17AIEACMA10.html
So, is lock up as good or better contact killer, as confront? I was able to score 7 bags from the local site one, after a friend with a lawn care service, "ordered it, for me". It is real confront and dimension, from the label. I may go back and buy 7 more, and store it for next spring (they ordered 30, when they placed "the order". here are some bag pics, to verify authenticity and of course, a pic for Lawn Porn. Thank you for all the help, @ducnut! your direction has brought my lawn around, and then some. now I am "the guy" in the neighborhood, everyone wishes their lawn looks that good. note the neighbors yard, and how off colored it is. he mows too short... I am mowing at damn near 4" now. leaving it taller, is choking everything else, out. now to overseed with Turf Type Tall Fescue, this fall... should be wonderful next year. Ski
Very nice. Mine is finally starting to grow, used Flagship 24-0-6 today so it should start growing like crazy soon. Also ordered bio-stimulants from N-ext after doing a soil test. If there’s no drought again this year it should be looking good, way better than my house anyway.
I have sand and some sraggly grass kinda stuff mixed in with the weeds at our new Florida place. I think I will just put in a horse shoe pit and call it good.
In about 6 or 7 years my property will be on the northeast corner of a 4 (or possibly 6) lane highway and a 12 lane interstate bypass. There'll likely be a grocery store or a Home Depot right here in my living room before 2030. I'll miss hearing the frogs down by the lake... but a couple-few million will ease the pain. As for grass, pre emergents, fertilizer.... Why?
