One Cousin in N Asheville, one in Weaverville, and my Uncle is further north off Jupiter rd., west of 26. All have finally been accounted for. The drone footage from Asheville north to Erwin has been horrific. I've worked enough storm damage to know just how difficult its going to be to get bare minimum services back. This area is Proper Fucked.
Yeah, lack of Power equals lack of Comms. Hopefully the number of missing people will come down as the power gets restored and people can check back in.
It looked like it really started getting bad around the 27 exit on I40/76 that goes NW to the Rez but I’ve only seen some random pics from people there… no news.. looks like it flowed down every valley and hollar…. Haven’t seen lake Junalooska pics either… that’s west of all that though… good luck and stick together like nobody is coming to save you… because they probably aren’t
I’ll be driving from BWI to Atlanta on Friday. Appears the best route is to go down 95 -> Richmond -> Raleigh -> Charlotte -> Atlanta. Anyone know if any of those routes would be impacted? I could cut across 70 to 81 to 77 to 85, but that appears to add about an hour.
All that water is traveling through the rivers and steams down through our town, Columbia, SC. We have new flooding happening now.
Check to see how 85 through upstate SC looks. You may be better off going 95 to 20 and over to Atlanta.
On a Friday, I'm thinking I want to get off of 95 ASAP. I don't know if it's still there, but a few months ago, the construction around Fayetteville was a major pain in the ass. That route right now shows an additional 60 miles but only 30 minutes. I'll pull over just before 85/95 splits and make the call from there.
My parents are up in Newland, NC, at high elevation. They are fine, just some flooding in the basement, but getting off the mountain and out of the area has been a major project. Many roads washed away, blocked by trees, etc. No power or cell service anywhere down in the valley. They finally made it to Charlotte yesterday and got out. There are tons of good samaritans up there clearing roads, cutting trees, checking on neighbors, etc. I've been thorough a lot of hurricanes in South Florida, but this is another level. Prayers for all in this area!
The Waffle House at exit one in SC (I-20) has been close since Thursday. It's about a mile from my house. This may not be a good sign.
I really hope they can salvage that DeLorean. That trunk has probably had more 80s cocaine in it than ozzy
Brother got this today as his power was coming back on in Savannah. Wind field was huge and the rains were Biblical in some places.
