Not racing related (maybe in your pit box), I bought one of these at list price a couple months ago and it throws down. Now they're $150 off. Yes, I bought another one https://www.walmart.com/ip/JBL-Part...wMnmWD4VuIzI3qzHRIC-gvgZpAeu3Vg4aAuGlEALw_wcB
Guy pitted next to me at Mid O this year had one and you can barely hear it. I just bought a WEN 3200 last year and I'm thinking about getting rid of it and getting this 5000.
I picked up a couple of these. Sturdy enough to stand on and rolls good. Has a rubber seal around the lid. https://www.harborfreight.com/modular-rolling-toolbox-58512.html
I’ll be running Woodcraft warmers and slicks for the first time next year. I need to buy a generator. I’m seeing the Wen generator on a legitimate sale at about ~$50 off (confirmed with Camel Camel Camel). Per woodcraft’s documents, it looks like this is well over capacity, even for running wattage ratings from Wen at ~1600W. Does anyone have experience with this brand? Go or no go? https://a.co/d/9lnWnrh
I bought a 3600W Wen from Wen last year. Ordered it on a Monday and it was on my porch Wednesday morning. They had it on sale for $400 then. We used it all season long, powered two sets of warmers and a couple fans when it was hot. Then we used it to power our trailer at night. It worked perfectly. Only downside is it only has a 5 hour run time. Kind of sucked at Nelson when it was 90 at night and our AC went out at 3am This was $400 last year. https://a.co/d/gSgoHlC
This is exactly the vote of confidence I need to move forward. I’m bummed that the larger capacity isn’t on sale, but I’ll only be running warmers on this. If I need another in the future, I’ll run in parallel or sell this and buy a larger one. Do you follow the owner’s manual to a t? They say to run it every month for half an hour. They mention to drain fuel as well, though there’s no mention of leaving stabilized stuff in there. Is 87 fine, or should I pick up 90 from Sheetz? I’ve seen other mentions of running the NGK plug and the magnetic oil dipstick. Thoughts on that? Any recommendations for an hour meter? Funny you mention you ran yours at Nelson’s. I’ve moved from bike to to “gear” spotting around the paddock in my down time, especially when I’m looking to buy some new gear. I remember only seeing one of these running there, and that was probably you. Small world!
We were there in June last year but couldn't make the September round. If it was June then it was probably us. I don't start mine once a month and run 87 in it. I had heard there was a spark plug issue but we've had no problems. I bought a couple spares, they're still in my tool box. About the only minor negative is that it's not Honda quiet, but it's not loud at all.
Thanks for your help. It’ll be here in the next week or so. I’m stoked to try to run a full race season next year. VMD and the September Nelson’s round wasn’t enough to scratch the itch this year.
