Just got back from a local Rolex dealer (Clarkson Jewelers in St. Louis). Had it cleaned and it looks great. They said to wear it and enjoy it. If it stops keeping time or starts acting odd, then send it in for servicing. I have the original box, receipt, warranty card w/ serial number, manual, etc. I even have the plastic bezel guard. The jeweler said it’s a complete package that only adds to the value. My plan is to wear it and enjoy it. If It acts up, then I’ll send it in. If they say the bezel needs replacing due to very small chips, will that hurt the value, having a replacement part instead of the original? I heard that Rolex will insist on replacing some items with wear or they won’t service the watch. Is that true?
Yes. It will hurt the value and it makes it less of a keepsake. Rolex is really bad about that. If you need to have it serviced, have it serviced at a dealer who has authorized technicians. Do not send it to Rolex.
It all depends on your school of thought. I'm of the opinion that I want to have all the wear show. Others like something pristine. In the collector community, there's a loss of value when something isn't all original. If you replace the bezel due to a nick/chip, it WILL hurt value. In looking at the photo you posted, I saw *zero* wrong, or anything that needed replacing (for me to enjoy it). Personally, I wouldn't even polish it. Wear it. Remember your Father in Law in a good way every time you look at your wrist. Any wear came from him and his adventures.
I think you should give it to your buddy you released the skunk smell into his brand new house. Maybe then he could invite you over again, in good conscience, without getting the stink eye from his wife.
They’re showing out of stock with no price listed. Mind if I ask what that sells for? It makes my cheese bubble..
It was $659. Sold out within 2-3 minutes of being released. Best bet is to get on their email list or watch IG/FB for on timing they go on sale.
No need. You can beat the shit out of it and it it won’t lose value or time. Looks really clean though. Cool watch.
I'm diving in FL this week and one of the boat guys was wearing an Explorer II. The bezel was so faded it looked almost silver/ gray. He even dives it. It was nice to see someone using like it was intended, as a tool watch. Sorry no pics, phone was on shore.
But you better not ask which generation smart watch to get. Asking that type of $hit will get you shanked ‘round here.
100% correct. Manual Wind - cool Quartz - sure thing Automatic - Absolutely Meca-Quartz - yup Smart watch - shank between the ribs.
