I do this weird thing with numbers; have been for a long time. Anyway, when I see a number, I immediately try to see how that relates to me. Some examples are: I looked at the clock, it said 3:27. I recall a car I had as a kid that had a Chevy 327 in it. I saw a count of something that was 998. The displacement on my R1 was 998cc. At work, one of the records had 9447 in the title. 9447 is the last four numbers of the hunting/fishing shop I've been going to for decades. I got some new running shoes the other day and on the size tag it said 46EU. Of course, the Rossi fanboy in me emerged. And on it goes.... Does anyone else do this?
Same. I know I look at the clock often, but I'll be damned if it isn't 8:48 half the time I glance at it....I'm a Ducati nerd. Very much the tip of the iceberg.
The number 15 has always been a reoccurring entity in my life. I naturally gravitate towards it. For example, we went to a waterpark a couple of weeks ago and the kids needed a locker. My youngest immediately found one with 15 in it (4715) IIRC. Numbered parking spots, I take 15. Oldest daughter born on 6/15. I was 5/15. There's a bunch of other stuff too.
Seriously though… I’ve heard of numerology but know nothing about it… my number picked me when I was very young… no idea how or why but I was drawn to it and put it from on my bicycle to 10’ tall custom number filled with all I loved on the semi… it shows up on receipts and paperwork so much with even my friends and family that most just accept it… for the last year it’s been dominating a great racing buddy that got me started 30 years ago… he sends me stuff every few days and it’s inspired him to get in shape and back to the track… so… not only do I notice things but I have no doubt that a higher power directs me and those in my world with it… but… if you ever think you have an issue watch the movie 23 with Jim Carey and you’ll realize you’re just fine… I don’t like his acting but that is a serious role and a great movie that will keep you from obsessing about something you don’t control
I had a Bible beating inlaw bitch years ago and after returning from a Mexico trip I told her that her prayers were answered and I’d finally found Jesus…. She was all happy and thanking the lord… until I told her he made the best tacos and works in Jalisco
Humans are pretty good at finding patterns and/or making them up when they don’t exist. Some even like to make up significance for those made up patterns. Nbd - you do you.
i can memorize old telephone numbers from friends decades ago also have some favorites. 12:34 on the clock hunts me several times a week. at the end of the day it's all 42
A couple of years ago I was interested in buy a new truck. So I looked up the latest models and kinda set my sights on the Ranger. Suddenly, I started seeing that truck everywhere, especially if it was in the color I wanted. Some may think “Holy shit, everyone also just bought a Ranger.” But no, the number of Rangers on the road didn’t magically increase a ton in a week. I just started noticing all of them because the truck is permanently in the back of my mind. It’s likely that something similar is going on with everyone’s special numbers.
So. . . when the radio's digital clock in my old van is reading 908, 911, 917, 930, 935, or 959 (Or 302, 351, or 429), it's merely telling me the time and not fantasizing it was some other vehicle?
Totally. So many cars/motorcycles use 3 digit naming that it happens all the time. And so many famous engine displacements too.
Not alone. There are several patterns in pi that relate to my life. Addresses, birthdays, SSN, highways I drove a lot... Just coincidences.
We share an interest in that stretch of 24 Hrs Le Mans history, I think... Since it is a 27 year old Dodge (9 years old in Ford years?) I'll ask it "Gotta hemi in that?" at 426....
