2025 Ducati Panigale V4S unveiled... meh

They will get over it, people are not going to stop buying a bike, because of a swing arm.
It's still a Ducati and it's still comes in Ducati red.

 

Ducati prices for their bikes are so out there that its like you need to be stupid or stupid rich to buy a V4.

Cool bike Ducati but I'm a poor Japanese bike guy now.

Yeah, sadly Ducatis haven't been good looking since the 1198, in my opinion. The stupid winglets just make it all the worse. Technically amazing machines, but so far departed from the gorgeous 916/996/998 years.

 

I'd be interested to see how much their sales dropped with the 999... you say people get over, it but Ducati switched back to the SSSA extremely quick, with the 1098. The 999 was only sold for 4 years.

The SSSA is a quick visual queue to let everyone at starbucks know its a ducati, otherwise its just a red bike, probably a honda.

Unless one was racing endurance, I always thought it was the dumbest thing out there. Winglets are more useful...

they still bought Ducati when the went to cam chains
they still bought ducati when they dumped the dry clutch
they still gonna buy Ducati with swingarm different

 

only difference is at least 5s a lap on any given track and 50% higher value retention?

True, but: the footsteps of the 916 were impossible to fill

they threw technology at the next gen and were in a quirky age, design wise.

For all the vitriol that came from Ducatisti when Pierre Terblanche debuted his Ducati 999 design, it is worth noting that the 999 maintained the sales momentum of the 998 (and actually out-sold its predecessor), despite a weaker sport bike market at the time. And before the motorcycling universe collapses in on itself like a dying star, there is also the realization that Ducati gained marketshare (perhaps the more relevant metric) with the “ugly” Ducati Superbike 999.

In fact, the 999 righted a four-year sport bike marketshare tailspin for the Bologna Brand…and yes, Terblanche’s 999 out-sold Tamburini’s original 916 by over two-to-one in first-year unit sales worldwide (continuing the trend from the 996 & 998). Not bad for a Superbike with a double-sided swingarm and stacked dual-headlights.

 

I was referring to the masses that are buying the street bike to ride on the street. Sales of bikes to racers and teams is incredibly small when looking at how the vast majority of bikes are bought and used.

 

Oh wow. I didn't and that's big news. Good news for the Aprilia RSVF 1100 Factory to have another 1100 superbike out there to encourage rules changes for racing.

 

V4/S has been that displacement since launch. The V4R was sub 1000cc for homologation.

 

I know it’s not a popular opinion but I think the 999 is the best looking Ducati ever… I love the stacked lights and the sharp body lines…. And of course the real swing arm…

I can't say it's the best looking ever, but it's a very attractive motorcycle. Even with 2 swingarms.

 

I think it's far more popular than social media signal/noise ratio indicates. The 999 gave the iPitchfork mob what they really love to do the most: Snivel & Whinge. The 999 also had a dandy fop repellant effect - something Ducati needs to do once in a while so they don't go all bar & shieldy.

I still see the 851/888 as the hot new model that saved Ducati. Yes, I'm that old....

 

I have to admit I didn’t like it as a street bike but in race form I did like it.
