Why did it look like the deer was laying on the track before he hit it?

Thinking about it and that deer slipping on the track saved Tims recover time. Head on at that speed would be terrible.

Hard to say, people have split deer and stayed up when the bambi mass is up where the bikes mass is located instead of it being a wheel chock.

Wow!! Hope tim makes a speedy recovery!

I can't imagine hitting something like that going that fast and totally unexpectedly.
John, great job keeping it up on two wheels bro!!

I guess I'm just used to seeing deer standing......not laying down.

    Heal up fast!

That mis-shift may have saved you life... you may not have been so lucky.

Or both of you may have missed him... who knows.

A deer's common reaction when startled is to drop, then run back in the direction they came. Unfortunately trying to do a spin move and get traction with hooves doesn't work very well on concrete.

I was cornerworking T8, scary just to hear over the radio
happened so quick, here is a screen shot I captured from the video
it was a BIG deer....are the black things flying bike parts from Tim's bike?
glad he's not hurt too badly.

    Also,

The corner workers were on full boogie way before I knew what the hell was going on. These folks kick ass, there were strutting the heat all weekend without complaint.

Glad to hear both riders are relatively ok and will be back to race again. Man I've been to Summit and yeah that is a fast corner  I would think it was good the dear slipped before impact, but I don't know?

I can't wait to read Tim's post about the incident. You guys think he saw it at all before impact?

Their hooves don't work so well on pavement, I'm guessing it slipped and fell.

He had a camera on his bike, not sure if it got it though.

i took a look while loading up his bike and stuff... it looks like the camera was facing the rear with the amount of cable that was hanging there.

i also checked his recorder and tried to play it, it said "invalid file" so i assume the crash impact damaged it. once its transfered he might be able to recover it, but im not sure.
