Thursday morning I checked out Craigslist at 6:30am like I do every morning and saw an ad for a Vespa with sidecar for $5. I figured it had to be a typo, but the ad clearly stated that it had been sitting in his ex-wifes garage for 6 years and he wanted it gone. I noticed that he lived about 3 miles from me. I send him a nice email, stating that I lived right near him and could get it within 24 hours, and that his Vespa is my daughter's dream bike. He sent me a text within 1/2 hour saying it was mine. Ends up he had offered it to a couple of organizations but they wanted him to jump through so many hoops to give them a free bike that he said screw it and put it for sale for $5. Told me he had 50 emails in the 10 hours since he listed it but my response was the best. Yesterday morning we meet at the DMV to transfer it then headed to his ex's to load her up. It's going to my race sponsors shop this morning for a restoration. They'll probably have it running in an hour. My daughter said she cried when I told her the news. A girl and her Vespa...
Yes. I didn't even know how the dang thing worked until I watched a video. She named it Audrey, after Audrey Hepburn. Said she's getting a pink helmet and a polka dot scarf
Hloy f@ck that’s rad. What year is it? Keep that sidecar on there so she can haul the dog around with some goggles on it! my brother picked up a 68 bmw with an Ural sidecar earlier this year and we’ve been having a blast with it.
I put a sidecar on an 1100 Shadow for a customer years ago, thing was a blast. He brought it back every year for a service and would leave it for a week or two. Told me to take the kids and wife for a ride which I did, also friends and their wives. Everybody loved riding in it. I've been wanting to put one together for a while, been waiting the right bike at cheap price.
It's a 68 with a 150cc engine and someone said it's a Steib LS200 sidecar. Other than that I know nothing about it. Just came from the shop and they shit at how clean it is. It shows 48 miles on the odo. And they're coming along quite nicely with my RD for VMD's. I took them an old fairing to see if they can fit it up.
