Maybe. Maybe not. You can't say with 100% certainty that having their positions wouldn't be different given 1-2-3 new riders in the mix. Also, we know the contingency $ are different, and those surely help out with tire cost, and what not.

AMA racers don't club race for a living

The only "Pro's" I saw were
    Rispoli and Alexander from Celtic.
I'm not sure if Roberts is "Pro" yet. Please direct that to Mr Ulrich.
I am sure there were a few guys (including myself) that have gridded up for a "Pro" race as well. But I don't think ANYONE out there this weekend, is making a LIVING racing motorcycles.

But I cannot speak for them.

You must have forgot about Robbie Jensen...:D

  5. Yea, if you add up all the pluses and minuses at the end of the year, Rispoli might be making a few dollars (just speculation on my part), but he's not making Mladin money.

Im sure a lot of money has been spent over the years for Rispoli to get to the level he's at too.

    To OP:
Some of the AMA pros got their start in WERA. Should those riders not be allowed to compete in WERA events also?

I for one am really happy to see those guys come out and race and here is the main reason why:

    I LEARN FROM THEM

How seriously upset are you that you don't realize the opportunity you have to follow these guys on track and then head into the pits and ask them questions. I have talked to a few and they all were eager to help and talk about racing! If you get a rude response from a pro at a club racing event, then I could understand talking about that particular rider. But I have never encountered that personally.

  8. For a while, he was racing a lot more club, than AMA, because the club stuff was paying him a lot better! Those were the days when a club racer could gross up to $10,000 or more on a weekend!

James was the only one I saw on MyLaps. He went faster than the guys at the GNF did (1:30 I think I saw), but there was plenty of fast talent there last October in the 1:31's that weren't "pro" racers.

"Crap on your parade?" Seriously? I don't think they showed up to purposely ruin your day.

Maybe you could turn it around and try to learn something from the guys instead of bitching about them. Stand in a corner and watch their technique, or go over and discuss lines or braking with them, they might give you some helpful advice.

Wow, really? I have few questions.

So does that mean all of the regular WERA experts shouldn't race in the AMA?

To the o.p. Did the pro keep you off the podium? If not why the complaint.

AMA has spec tire and fuel. Everyone pays for their tires and fuel at AMA events....now do they get an allotment for club events? I have no idea, but so what if they do. During the epic years of the "bounty hunters" when if you didn't turn top 15 AMA times at a WERA event you were outside the top ten. Those guys were paid to race and got free tires RACING WERA EVENTS.

Look back at the series and you will see there were "pros" racing regional contingency races and that was thier living. So your statement does not have any grounds. Only difference today is the manufacture money is not like it was prior to 08 and most of those boys went home.

For what it's worth (and no comment on the "cherry picking") but the "pros" stayed all the way through the award ceremony and gave speeches thanking sponsors at each award. I understand people have jobs and cutting out ASAP but it was really awesome to see them stick around.

WERA has been an organization that has been there for racers from day one to the day they decide to hang it up.....James Rispoli has had a License for a long time and he is a WERA rider - we get so many requests for AMA transcripts from WERA racers so they can race AMA it is crazy - we have no problem having them race with us - whether a racer is a "Pro" or "Club" racer they are always welcome - racing has only one winner and this weekend there was some awesome racing going on -

In November and January JZ was brought out by a local (Calif) shop to put a Honda on the podium.

I was frustrated as hell because I was so close to my first podium in Superstock and because he was there I took 4th.... sure it was frustrating, but becuase he was there I took 4th He showed me some KILLER tricks, and lines in areas I was struggling in.

If he hadn't been there I may have gotten 3rd.. or I may have gotten less than 4th...

Sure I pissed and moaned a bit... but in the end, I kept my rear tire from that race as a little momento - it was the best performance I had ever had up to that point in my club racing "career"... and I had JZ sign it and he graciously posed for a photo with me :D

Sure it kinda sucks when you feel like you're getting picked on a bit from someone who makes a living in the racing industry... but if you just change your perspective and look at how it can benefit you and your racing... then it makes it all worth while.

The best part is truly seeing how we (club racers) stack up against AMA riders

And IMHO Joe Roberts is the raddest kid I've had the pleasure of racing with in WERA and he's kicking butt in the Red Bull Rookies Cup in Europe... I just adore him! He's such a sweetheart....

In Summary - change your perspective.... there will always be someone who shows up and kicks your ass.... all you can do is learn from it and make yourself better.

And FWIW... there's no contingency being paid for nothing anyway... it's club racing... we pay waaaayyyyy more to race than we'll ever take home from it.

There isn't a single line in this first post that isn't whiney, weak and pathetic.

    Ride faster.

I think it's cool as hell to see AMA guys in the pits at a WERA weekend, and I hope they'll ignore dumbass threads like this one. It elevates everyone in the organization and makes me proud to be out there with them.

Lee Acree shouldn't be allowed to race the suzuki cup, he's a pro! Colin Edwards has no business being at the GNF! Doug Polen is stealing from club racers by racing his Hurricane!

Geoff May is an AMA Pro and he should not be allowed to race in Suzuki cup races out of his 6X9 trailer...

Mike Smith is a factory rider! No way should he be allowed to run WERA!

KWS is an AMA Pro team! Why are they at the GNF?!?!

Lol.....does this ever stop being funny?

He came up to the CRA last year to race for Ducati 848 contingency. It was a blast to watch. Our guys responded by just riding faster and beating him. So, just ride faster or as many have said...learn from them.
