Anybody going? If you are... PLEASE stop by and say "hi". I will be working at Socata and Piper all week... in the sun... answering: How much does it cost? How fast does it go? How much does it cost? How fast does it go? How much does it cost? How fast does it go? How much does it cost? How fast does it go? How much does it cost? How fast does it go? How much does it cost? How fast does it go? It would be nice to talk about motorcycles or something! STEVE
There is an industry name for the people that attend these shows. They are referred to as Whistlin' Gophers. "What's that go fer'?" Tell them the price. "<whistle>" STEVE
I'll be there. Should get there aboot Wednesday late afternoon. When you working at which on Thursday? I know what most of them sell for and no I can't afford them. I'm looking more at building then buying. Have a friend building an RV-10. He hopes to finish next spring after 3 and a half years of building.
I think I am at Piper on Thursday. I'll know for sure tomorrow. I am the tall, skinny guy from Muncie Aviation. Be sure to stop by. We flew in this morning in a new Meridian they needed for the display. It was, no kidding, the most terrifying thing I have EVER done in over 6000 hours of flying. We are never flying into OSH during Airventure ever again. It isn't worth it. STEVE
If you go by the Garmin booth look up Mike Sheehan. He is a local Kansas City racer who happens to also be really good friends with Kenny Roberts JR.
We flew from Alabama to Oshkosh in a cessna 182 a couple of years ago. Landing at Oshkosh during Airventure is nerve racking to say the least.
I was there a couple years ago with Civil Air Patrol working the flight line, almost had my head taken off by at least 5 dumbasses that didn't get the concept of lanes marked off by cones. I did learn how to dive out of the way of a rogue aircraft pretty quickly. Not sure why so many people thought it was a good idea to try to run over the big orange cones with a person standing next to it rather than following the hundreds of other planes down the lane in the right direction but whatever. It was definitely a memorable experience, but holy crap was it tough work standing out on the flight line the entire day every day directing every single plane that came in. It was cool getting to see some of rare aircraft that came in so close up (some WAY TOO CLOSE UP). long live the chicken man!
Since this was the only thread in my search to pop up concerning the Oshkosh, I thought I'd just go with it... So, anybody go this year? Anyone going next year? Anyone want to go at all? Any pointers/advice?
