jimmy page, robin trower, eric johnson,hendrix...the list goes on, i have favorites for different reasons
When they asked Jimi Hendrix what is was like to be the World's greatest guitarist, he said, "I don't know. You better ask Rory Gallagher." I agree with Jimi.
1. James Marshal Hendrix.... Never played the same lead twice. Made it up as he went. another bit +1 for Mark Knopler. who does not get excited at the 5 minute mark to sultans of swing? here is a little freestyle version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK7q2RI2zzg
At some point, I'm coming back and banning everyone who posted a YouTube in here. It may not be today, it may not be next week. But I recommend a healthy amount of fear of what's coming.
santana nobody has mentioned him? Dime bag my fav EVH jerry cantrel Alice N Chains fking bad ass in concert
I saw him and his wife (Susan Tedeschi) open for Jeff Beck last month. Great freakin' concert! Jeff opened with Eternity's Breath, originally performed by the Mahavishnu Orchestra. I just learned that the drummer that night was Narada Michael Walden, who was in the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Robert Johnson, he didn't have the luxury of compression. Hendrix, needs no explanation. Prince, may be a surprise but he is a phenomenal guitarist. Live solos are epic. Tom Morello. "Is the guitar making that sound? No way." Eddie Van Halen for inventing the techniques everyone else has to learn. Vernon Reed for his unmistakable sound. Jimmy Page for helping cement blues into rock n roll. Angus Young. See him live before you die. Donita Sparks and Nancy Wilson. Both unforgettable. Mark Rizzo for his amazing versatility of genres. Flamenco to Metal. And here are some hot metal chicks for no other reason than I like hot metal chicks. http://www.mtv.com/photos/revolvers-hottest-chicks-in-metal/1627628/4449381/photo.jhtml
