Got to ride an Aprilia SXV450 across California a few years back. Followed a friend throughout the hills north of LA, West of Malibu (dont' remember the name, but the Rock Store cafe was out there). Man, talk about race track roads. I see why bikes are so popular out there.

The amazing thing about the whole LA area is that is goes from unbelievable congestion and traffic of LAX to mountains and canyons in less than a mile. Very unlike the Northeast, where urban sprawl will still happen 50 miles outside of any city in any direction. I do have a feeling that south of LA is probably more like that.

As cool as the canyons are, I don't know how people race through there. All of the turns were blind, and rocks/dirt was all of the road. Guard rails seemed to the optional as well.
