Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: the liberal media In a free market economy you cannot price the market. Prices seek their own level, that which is scarce and highly desired will rise the most in price. That which is common and wanted by fewer will drop in price. Of course, you can fiddle with this using import/export fees, tariffs, etc. Raising wages artificially and imposing benefits raises the price of goods produced. Taxing company profits has the same effect. While the intent behind these actions may be commendable, government entities don't know when to say enough. When you impose a level of benefits and taxes that make it cheaper to produce and import those goods, that worker loses his job because his employers can't sell the goods he makes.People are never satisfied with reasonable improvement or help. A few months ago there was a letter in my local paper. It was written by an elderly Russian woman who had emigrated here after the USSR fell apart. She was residing in Massachusetts and receiving housing and living assistance there under programs she didn't specify. She was writing to explain that, even though she had lived most of her life in Russia and had never worked in this country or paid taxes here, the state was providing for her in her old age. Her problem, she explained, was that since we had decided to support her, we owed it to her to support her in a better fashion, she needed more money to live on. Her attitude is far from unique. It is quite often the case that people trying to do something good don't look beyond the immediate impact of their actions. Most unions would never admit to you that their unbridled zeal in getting higher wages and more benefits for their workers drove many companies in the northern industrial cities to move to southern states. From there, many have been driven out of the country. A little reform is never a bad thing, but too much of anything usually is, no matter the intentions behind it.
I was referring to manufacturing being moved from the US to second and third world countries where people work for a few dollars per day.
yep, and michael jordan makes more from nike than every nike employee in malaysia combined. god bless america.
I just pointed out how bias reporting has become the "Norm" now. If you read Eric Altman's introduction, he states both sides of the issues. He takes equal swings at Coulter and Dan Rather. Enjoy. http://www.whatliberalmedia.com/intro.pdf
As I've stated in other threads, anything written is written with bias. Editorials reflect the bias of the editor. The angle from which any story is reported reflects the bias of the reporter. The choice of which news articles are included in any publication reflect the bias of the newsroom editors. When any of us post something to this BBS we write with our own bias. Taking a few pokes at your own side does not constitute lack of bias. It's a great debating tactic that has worked forever. Derail your opponent's argument by pulling your own skeletons out of the closet and laugh at them a little. Keeps your opponent from whipping open those doors and exclaiming 'What about THIS?". Gives you a chance to explain, excuse and belittle the importance of those skeletons. I don't accord the author of this book any lack of bias because such a thing doesn't exist.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: the liberal media GIVE me a break your both outright socialist and attempt (very poorly) to use class warfare to demonize the inheritance tax, it is a gradual increase at this point and even if it is not, the money was earned and is the property of the owner, capital gains etc. have been paid on it, the government has no right to determine the disposition of personal property. With respect to US foreign policy you support your positions claiming to understand the “world” with respect this issue you prove your ignorance. “The top 1000 or 2000 wealthiest family’s” as you put it have the resources and intelligence to shelter their estates from the inheritance taxes! They are already immune. This is “ you have to much money and could not have earned it and don’t deserve it” mentality. Look a what happened to the Yacht building industry in the US,,, in their infinite wisdom and in an act of class warfare our wise elected officials decided that they could raise revenue by placing a tax on expensive boats/yachts. The estimates for the revenue that would be generated by this tax had all of them smiling and patting each other on the back… THOUSANDS lost their jobs as the whole industry in the US collapsed… there was a net tax revenue loss as a result of the job loss and a complete industry was driven out of this country! GREAT idea, hell people with that kind of money are not smart enough and can’t afford to fly over seas and save 100 grand or more on their purchase….
I'll make sure and tell my mom, who works at TJ Maxx, that Inheritance and Estate Taxes only hurt the rich. I'm sure that will make the pound of flesh the state raped her for when my father died much more palatable. You hit it right on the nose, Yamaha Fan.
Jamie, it's not nice to say people are unintelligent when you don't agree with what they say. For what it's worth I'm torn about the inheritance tax. I agree fundamentally with the conservative agenda, ie. I don't feel that income should be taxed twice. However, government needs money to run. So, if not this tax, which one? The money must come from somewhere. Perhaps we should start a thread called, "Reforming the Tax Code." thane
how about cutting social programs designed to enable losers? i.e., six months unemplyment instead of unlimited lfetime unemployment. or gov. paid birth control, instead of gov. paid abortions, and child subsidies?
gov paid birth control (norplant or pills) is an excellent idea, out to be mandated... but where is there gov paid abortion???
so in other words, you don't really know of any gov paid abortions? maybe you were just spouting off baseless crap? trying to sound smart and be reactionary? You wouldn't do THAT would you?
geeee medicaid and medicare not ring a bell? how about the many that give the premise to self pay, and then do not? them of course you got the one's who use abortion as birth control. oh, what am i doing talking to a sheepcrap wussy troll.

sorry dear, I don't hang out awaiting your reply... but once again I baited and got your dumb ass Look back, oh flap-mouthed one... did I ever say states did NOT pay for abortions? No... I asked you if they did, and you gave a snot answer, and you never knew for certain nor checked till I called you on being a incindiary blowhard call me Super Troll but I caught your dumb ass again: hook, line and sinker... next time be sure your brain is engaged before you put your mouth in gear now go pedal some pacemakers and try to act superior, dolt
